Here is a update from Lacey Smith on the kids
A little insight on the challenges of having a simple party for Liam celebrating a victory medical report
From Lacey
Liam just wrapped up his 3 1/2 year battle with ALL, we celebrated his 6th birthday by combining it with a no more cancer celebration so it was a big blowout. (Thank you so much for your hand in suggesting u call floaters. ) getting the porta potty was necessary bc we still live in a germ bubble and having that many people at the house with Emma still in treatment was extremely nerve racking. We closed up the house and didn't allow anyone entry inside, I even constructed an out door changing room for those that needed to change into their swimsuits ect. Lol.
Now that Liam is done, he has finished his detox period and I can see that all of the meds are fully out of his system. He will be tested monthly now for one year to be sure that he remains cancer free. This visits are filled with lots of worry and anxiousness just wanting him to stay healthy and live a continuous cancer free life. He is all Signed up for kindergarten and we work daily on trying to get him up to speed with his motor skills, number and letter recognition. It's crazy the little delays we saw bc of off the meds he was taking.
Emma is trucking right along, showing just how tough she really is. She just had a spinal on Thursday, chemo in her port Thursday as well and also started her monthly, 5 days in a row of steroids... (So the weekend may get a bit rough on us). She too goes into clinic every month for port administered chemo, takes daily chemo at home, Thursday chemo at home, spinals every three months and then steroids monthly for five day pulses. She handles it all very well and I couldn't be more proud of the process she's continue to make.
Ella, being the identical twin sister, also gets tested monthly to check for any signs that she could be showing signs of cancer. She continues to stay healthy but it definitely adds more stress by always overthinking any days that's she's overly tired or a bit lethargic. She's such a champ of a sibling, she even cut all of her hair off last month to look more like Emma and Liam. I guess short hair is the 'norm' for our kids and she was filling like the odd ball.... Who would have ever thought of it that way ;)
We cannot thank you for all that you do for our family and we are so looking forward to the upcoming fishing tournament
Now to get the other kids healthy.
The bash is August 26 & 27
Offshore and inshore and as usual a massive raffle and everything go's to the smith family to help them with their current fight as well as their past battles
It will take a life time to recover from the impact of the medical bills
Love and support are needed!!
Thanks
Dave
