Twas the night before the light show, when all on the house
Not a single RGB light was hung, not even one by my spouse;
The Christmas show controllers, still stacked in the shop with care,
In hopes they would be soon installed in the front yard everywhere;
Carson and MC were nestled, all snug in their beds,
While visions of next year’s show ran through their heads;
And Cherie in her night gown, and I in my Grinch bed shoes,
Had just crawled into bed, for a very long snooze.
When out on the front lawn, a loud banging racket,
I leaped out of bed, grabbing my gun and my jacket.
Running down the hallway, as fast as I could go,
Yanked open the front door, ripping the skin off my toe.
As the pain ran up my leg, almost more that I could bare,
I almost dropped some reindeer cookies in the seat of my underwear.
A long stream of cars, slowly creeping down our road
I yelled to Cherie “Come quick come quick, and get on your robe!!!”
We stared at the children, with long faces and fear,
Where’s the “Langley Lights Before Christmas Show”
Last year it was right here!
No flashing lights, no music, not the first Christmas tree in site
No dancing minions, no Mariah Carey songs, something is just not right.
No candy canes, no chasing house lights, not even a small Santa in a pinch
The family that lives here has turned into the Christmas light GRINCH!!!
2017 was incredibly busy, Hurricane Nate hitting our coast
Our show equipment broken, pixels flicking from the damage to most.
As we stood there wondering, how did the year go by so fast
We have to do better, put this failed show season in the past.
The Langley’s are not Grinches, we love the Christmas Season,
We love all the dancing lights, the music, and fact that Jesus is the reason.
We love seeing the small faces light up with excitement and cheer
In 2018 we promise “The Langley’s Lights Before Christmas Show” is coming back here.
The real gift of Christmas does not come from a store
But from God’s only Son sent to knock on our hearts door.
We hope you enjoy and remember to always show God’s light
