It is with the greatest pleasure that we announce our little corner of Jackson has been bestowed a Mayor’s Civic Pride Award.

If we wish for beautiful places in our city, we must be willing to create them. And, more importantly, to tend to them.

A garden does not become lovely by chance. It requires those willing to plant, to prune, to water, to wait. Those who believe the work is worthwhile long before there is anything to show for it.

Perhaps a city is much the same.

Jackson is ours to tend.

And so, we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute one small patch of beauty to a city we love & call home. A place where people may gather, linger, celebrate, and perhaps be reminded that there is still so much good worth cultivating.

Our sincerest thanks to Keep Jackson Beautiful and the Mayor’s office for this lovely recognition.

May we all continue to sow beauty in every corner of our city. In our gardens, in our community, our neighbors, and local businesses.

It has come to our attention that the matter of garden usage may require a touch of clarification.

Our garden is open to the leisurely during Gylden Bake House hours, where guests are welcome to wander, linger, sip, and enjoy its charms… provided, of course, that the garden has not been reserved for a private affair.

For those wishing to host a celebration, soirée, shower, dinner, gathering, or other distinguished occasion, the garden is available for private rental.

Such occasions require a reservation and are not complimentary. To inquire about availability or secure your date, kindly visit gyldenbakehouse.com/liberte-social and submit an inquiry through the Contact Form.

And should you arrive to find the garden dressed for a private affair, we ask that you admire it from afar and return another day. After all, even the garden has a social calendar. 🌿

Dearest Gentle Reader,

You may have noticed that the grounds have been rather busy of late.

The next phase of planting is nearly complete, and with it comes the beginnings of something quite lovely. The amber glow of agastache, delicate white calamint dancing between the beds, creeping thyme beginning to wander wherever it pleases. Fragrant roses are settling in, and here and there, tiny new blooms are quietly making themselves at home.

Of course, no grand transformation comes without its growing pains.

There is also, you may have noticed, a rather fresh expanse of lawn making its debut. While it may look perfectly suitable for a leisurely promenade, the newly laid sod is still putting down roots and would prefer to be admired from a respectable distance.

So, dear reader, we ask for just a little patience while everything settles into place.

The garden is not quite finished telling its story…

There is still more to come. And what that may be, dear reader, is a secret for another day.

Following an evening spent beneath the garden’s canopy, and after the recent feature in The Jackson Post, we have been gifted the most extraordinary thing. Not flowers, but stories.

Tales of first courtships and lifelong loves. Photographs marking life’s sweetest milestones. Childhood adventures along winding paths. Peace found in quiet corners. Celebrations beneath the blooms. Moments of healing. Generations returning, time and again, to the very same garden.

It has become abundantly clear that this has never been merely a garden. It is a keeper of memories, a witness to life’s most treasured moments, and a beloved chapter in so many stories.

To be entrusted with its care, and to carry its legacy forward, is an honor beyond measure.
