The authors at the Mississippi Book Festival love meeting their readers because books don’t stop on the page—they live on in you.

Meeting readers means meeting the people who laughed, cried, thought deeply, healed, or escaped through their stories. It’s a reminder that words connect us in powerful, personal ways.

Please join us in congratulating our Director, Ellen Daniels, on being named a 2026 Hometown Hero by Visit Jackson.

Ellen’s impact on Mississippi’s literary community can be felt far beyond the pages of a book. Through her passion, leadership, and dedication to connecting readers and writers across our state, she has helped shape the Mississippi Book Festival into the celebration it is today.

This recognition is so well deserved, and we are grateful for all she continues to do for books, literacy, and the Mississippi community. Congratulations, Ellen! 📚

We are excited to announce that world-renowned hip-hop artist and New York Times bestselling author Rick Ross is joining us for the 2026 Mississippi Book Festival on Saturday, September 26, right here in downtown Jackson!

Born in Clarksdale, Ross is returning to his roots to share his new book, Renaissance of a Boss Man: Notes from a Creative Reawakening. We all know him for his massive presence in music and business, but this book shows a different side. It’s a raw, powerful look at what it takes to reinvent yourself, stay creative, and build a legacy that actually lasts.

He’ll be taking the stage for an open conversation about his creative journey, his vision, and what it really means to define success on your own terms.
