And they’re off!

Today was the first ride of the seaon for Cornell Polo! 32 ponies in and beginning their exercise regimen over the next 4 weeks before we start scrimmaging!

Congratulations to Cornell Polo’s own Lily Donnan (CALS ‘28) and her team for winning the 2026 Robert “Tex” Fragnoli Memorial Tournament - a USPA 2-goal Congressional Cup. The final score was 7-5 over Skaneateles.

We are excited to announce that Senior Benito Jaramillo was named the Stephen A. Orthwein Male Intrcollegiate Player of the Year for the 2025 - 2026 season!!!

Benito’s excellence as a player, horseman, and student-athlete makes him incredibly deserving of this award!

In the span of time from 2022 - 2026, he has helped lead the Cornell men’s polo team to a two Northeastern Regional Championships, two D2 National finals appearances (winning in 2024), and an appearance in the D1 National Championship final in 2026. He has also been named a National All-Star for three straight years, and is a three time winner of the National Horsemanship Award.

Congratulations to our 2026 Academic All-Ivy At-Large Honorees Lara Chong and Benito Jaramillo!!!

Cornell Athletics landed five athletes on the 2026 Academic All-Ivy At-Large Team, the Ivy League conference office announced today. Eligible for at-large selection are Big Red student-athletes from teams the Ivy League does not sponsor, which includes, men’s polo, women’s polo, equestrian, sprint football, and women’s gymnastics.

Cornell’s 2026 honorees are Benito Jaramillo (Men’s Polo), Lara Chong (Women’s Polo), Alexei DiDonatio (Sprint Football), Emily Joyce (Women’s Gymnastics), and Erin Morera (Equestrian).

Cornell Polo spans familial generations!!

Cornell and Cornell Polo alumnus Rob Donnan (CALS ‘81) leads his daughter Lily Donnan (CALS ‘28), current team member, out onto the field on Pampita to compete in the Museum and Hall of Fame Tournament at the Skaneateles Polo Club on Sunday, 7/12/26.

Lily is helping Coach Condo evaluate the next group of donation horses hoping to make it into the string this Fall, and she is gaining valuable riding experience and playing time in doing so.

And, getting some coaching tips from Dad at the same time!

The future of the Cornell Polo string is looking very bright.

A few of them were a bit sassy in our opening game of the Hall of Fame Cup at Skaneateles on Friday, but so far they’re all looking pretty solid.

Consolation is at 1 PM and Tournament Championship at 3 PM on Sunday 7/12 at the Skaneateles Polo Club.

It's time to kick off Cornell Polo's 2026 "Twelve Days of Giving" campaign!

Have you thought about supporting Cornell Polo this season, but just haven't gotten to it yet? We're closing in on the end of our 2026 fiscal year with a shortfall of about $70k to make up in the next two weeks to close the books! Won't you help us secure our goal?!

Today's initiative: BOARDING OUR PONIES!

Do you know it costs Cornell Polo between $500 and $600 per month, per horse, to board our horses at the Oxley Equestrian Center? When you require 30+ horses to run a program as successful as ours is, that certainly adds up! Over the course of the year, more than $160,000 is spent on board - and that is over 1/3 of our total budgeted expenses for the year!
