Celebration for peace, with discussion, presentations, music. The mission of the Ithaca Peace Festival is two-fold:
1.

The event will feature live performances, arts and craft vendors, an assortment of international food, local craft beer, as well as activities and entertainment for kids, including a bouncy castle. Previous years' events have seen: Samite of Uganda, the Dady Brothers, Revision, SOUK: Middle Eastern Grooves, El Rumbon, the Sim Redmond Band, The Burns Sisters, Kevin Kinsella and the Analogue Sons, G

unpoets, and more. The event takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the grounds of St. Catherine’s Parish (http://stcathofsiena.org/), located off of Hanshaw Road in the Town of Ithaca, at 309 Siena Drive. The event intends to welcome people from throughout our community to a celebration of international peace, while helping to raise funds that support the organization’s peace-related activities. To inspire positive actions to promote peace by building relationships within the local community.
2. To provide financial support to organizations that are supporting peace related activities locally and globally. Everyone is welcome at the Ithaca Peace Festival! An admission fee is encouraged to support the event. Please visit our website for more information: http://www.ithacapeacefest.org/

The Peace Fest This year:
A 2-day event to celebrate our diversity, promote peace, and build stronger relationshipswithin our community while enjoying stimulating conversation, music, and food.DYNAMIC SPEAKERSListen to Monalita Smiley, Dan and Linda Finlay, Ruth Yarrow, and Mahmud Burton. Each sharing their passion andexpertise to create meaningful dialogue that will leave you inspired.

SILENT AUCTION:The festival hosts a yearly silent auction where you can bid on a variety of great items. You willfind gift certificates to an array of local restaurants and businesses, certificates for local activities,hand-made and unique gifts, and a variety of little and big-ticket items. Bidding opens 5pm Fridayin St. Catherine of Siena parish hall and closes Sunday at noon. .…………………………………………………………………………….
MUSIC AND DANCE Community Sing for Peace –
Friday, 8pm Get inspired by songs of the social justice movement Jorge T. Cuevas and the Caribe Jazz All Stars –
Saturday 8pm Latin dance lesson and concertBring your dancing shoes! (You can also enjoy the salsa rhythms from the comfort of your seat, drink in hand).FOOD AND DRINKPulled pork sandwiches, Dominican delights, potato and cheese pierogies, veggie burgers, brats, hot dogs and more!Premiere local wine and beer also available for sale. Dinner sales open at 6pm Friday and 5:15pm Saturday. .Please note: Cash and checks ONLY, no credit cards. .
PRESENTATIONS ON PEACE-MAKING“Divisible”– Thursday, 6pm Screening and discussion of new documentary on the racist practice in the housingindustry called redlining, created by St. Catherine parishioner Lizzy Barrett *Held at Cinemapolis in downtown Ithaca*
“Reimagining Public Safety” – Friday, 7pm Monalita Smiley, Director of the Community Justice Center, presents onour local governments’ project to reform policing and protect communities“Working for Peace from Vietnam to Today”– Saturday, 6pm St. Catherine parishioners and peace activists Dan andLinda Finlay tell the story of how and why they’ve worked for peace for decades . …………………………….“Interfaith Thoughts on Peace”– Saturday, 7pm Local Quaker and Muslim community members reflect on how theirfaith motivates them to be peacemakers, featuring Ruth Yarrow from the Ithaca Friends Meeting andMahmud Burton, President of the Al-Huda Islamic CenterADMISSION PRICESAdmission is free, donations accepted.
