[Ithaca, NY, December 14, 2023] – The Greater Ithaca Activities Center will be hosting its Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration on January 13, 2024, from 9:00am - 2:00pm at the Beverly J. Martin School (BJM) Gymnasium. This year's celebration will feature keynote speaker Executive Director of Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, Desmond Meade, a light breakfast, several educational workshops, special performances, a recognition of recent ancestral leaders, and a luncheon. Join us this August 19 for a special Educational Wine Tasting event at Northstar Public House (). For those who are new to our community, Vinstinct is a woman-led start organization that was founded by Cornell graduate students and helps make wine education more accessible and relatable to new wine lovers. This event is unlike any typical wine tasting that you’ll experience at a bar, restaurant, or winery.

Our interactive workshop includes unique activities designed to teach you how to taste and assess wine like a pro, as well expand your palate. In this event, you will learn how to taste the 5 basic characteristics of wine (acid, sweet, tannin, alcohol, body) and how to identify those “obscure” tasting notes of strawberry, cherry, or oak that everyone likes to throw around.

We’ll be tasting the following wines:

semi-dry Riesling
dry Rose
Justo Rosso

We grabbed up as many strawberries as we could handle from our friends at Silver Queen Farm. Come on out to the Backyard this weekend to enjoy this seasonal sangria and save some room for strawberry shortcake waffles for dessert. See you soon!
