Today, we honor the hard work, dedication, and contributions of workers everywhere.

And we’re reminded that some things we work hard for are truly a labor of love.

The Texas Hoedown is one of those things…built with a love for dance, community, competition, and bringing people together.

While Nugget and I are the only ones depicted in this image, recognition for making Texas Hoedown the event it is also goes to Judi Caudle, Bobby Pritchard, and all the staff and volunteers.

We sincerely hope you get to join us in 2027:

Happy 7th birthday to this little girl—Nugget, the Texas Hoedown’s Chief Emotional Support Officer.

Her responsibilities include:
🐾 Reducing pre-competition jitters
🐾 Handing out tail wags
🐾 Accepting unlimited pets
🐾 Reminding everyone to have fun
🐾 Celebrating every dancer—whether it’s their first competition or their fiftieth

She’s been a true blessing to us!!!

Nugget is getting all dolled up and practicing her best “see you soon” kiss before heading to the Lonestar Invitational!

She’s making sure Texas Hoedown is well represented! Bobby is already there, Nugget will arrive later today with one of her favorite people, Cathy Zuniga. I’ll be joining everyone later tonight.

Safe travels to everyone making the trip. We can’t wait to catch up with old friends, make some new ones, and enjoy another fantastic ACDA weekend.

Thank you to everyone who took a guess at the Easter egg count! And the winner is... drum roll please…

Leslie Smith!!!

Leslie guessed 242 eggs, and the actual count was 249. That's really close! Congratulations, Leslie—you've earned bragging rights and an item of your choice at the Texas Hoedown merchandise store (to be picked up at the 2027 event).

But the fun doesn't stop there. These 249 eggs are just the first batch being prepared for the 2027 Texas Hoedown. We'll have even more eggs ready for Easter weekend fun at the event!

So bring the kids, bring the grandkids, or simply bring your own kid-at-heart spirit and get ready for a weekend packed with dancing, laughter, friendship, and a few other egg-citing things along the way.

Let the fun weekend begin at Midwest Dance Festival! PrisYoung TedHaase has been working hard to create a fun, welcoming event for competitors (new, experienced, and everyone in between), social dancers, and spectators…as evident from all of her informative (and many entertaining) FB posts. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

I’ve been spending some time this Memorial Day helping the Easter Bunny get ready for the 2027 Texas Hoedown which will be held at the Westin DFW Airport in Irving, Texas. Be sure to mark your calendars for March 25–28, 2027—we’re sure it’s going to be a hoppin’ good time!

And for those of you who will be joining us, the fun doesn’t have to wait until March!

Take your best guess at how many eggs are in the bag for a chance to win a certificate for one free Texas Hoedown item from the merchandise table (winner must pick up the prize in person at the 2027 event).

Here’s how it works:
-The closest guess without going over wins
-Entries must be submitted by midnight on May 31st
-The winner will be announced on June 1st

So put your counting skills to the test and see if you can crack the case!
