Good day. Randy has dropped to 5th in the current The People's Artist Semi-Finals. We're not discouraged because he was lower in the first two rounds and rose to 1st place both times!

Your continued votes are needed to help make it happen again.
You can vote daily if possible through the Semi-Finals end on Thu, July 2, 7pm PDT.

Actor Johnny Depp is hosting the contest as a fundraiser for his charity The Art of Elysium Salon at Wilshire and Vermont in Los Angeles. The nonprofit gallery provides art therapy at schools, hospitals, shelters, and more.

If he moves from 2nd to 1st place tonight, Randy will go on to the Semi-Finals and hopefully the Finals that ends July 9.

Paintings like this one of President Obama could go on exhibit at the gallery as part of Randy's Grand Prize winnings. Click on the vote link above and scroll down to see more of his artwork.

We need free AND paid votes to win. Donations ($1 per vote after the free vote) are tax deductible.

Randy keeps going back and forth between 1st and 2nd. Anything you can do to help close the gap would be greatly appreciated.

As Quarter-Finals winner, Randy would go on to the Semi-Finals and hopefully the Finals that ends July 9. If he remains in 2nd at 7pm tonight, he will be out of the competition.

This is a tougher round with other first-place group contenders so we apparently need to step things up a notch!

He's in 3rd place (up from 11th!) as of this writing. :) :) :)

The current Quarter Finals round will choose the Semi-Finalists. It ends here if he doesn't take the top spot in his current group.

You can vote everyday or as much as possible till next week Thu, Jun 25, 7pm PDT for this round.

It's official. Randy won first place in his group last night. He has passed the first major hurdle on the road to becoming The People's Artist.

The competition is supported by actor Johnny Depp as a fundraiser for his charity gallery The Art of Elysian in Los Angeles.

We thank everyone who voted and donated for him. We know the reminders may have been exhausting. It means a lot that you continued to vote regardless.

It feels great knowing that people we know and don't know took time to respond to our appeals. Means more than we can say. God bless you for your support.

What Happens Next?

Randy has advanced to the Quarter Finals, where he will compete against the other group winners. Daily free voting opens again next week on Mon, June 15, and will end four weeks later on Thu, July 9.

The schedule is as follows:

Quarter Finals: June 15–25
Semi-Finals: June 26–July 2
Finals: July 3–9

The Grand Prize Winner will be announced on or before August 6 and will receive:

$25,000
A feature in the international Artforum Magazine
An exhibition at The Art of Elysium gallery in LA

About Randy

Randy discovered his God-given talent as a child drawing with his artist mother at their home on the Eastside in South Central LA. He later studied visual arts at Jefferson High School, Compton College, and CSU San Bernardino.

Permanently disabled from a work injury, he finds more time in retirement to share his love for nature, culture, and everyday life through mostly realist and abstract paintings and drawings.

It looks like Randy won first place in the visual arts group, but we have to wait for confirmation. We will update soon as we know!
