The Simpson College Music Department is excited to announce that Dr. Jennifer Kreider will be joining us this Fall as the new Assistant Professor of Music, Voice.
Jennifer Kreider, a soprano, is a passionate performer of new music, art song, and opera. Her notable engagements include performances at the Aldeburgh Festival in England, the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme, Opera Theater of St. Louis, and the Spoleto Festival USA. In 2022 and 2023, Jennifer was named a district winner of the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition, and in 2023 she placed second in the Upper Midwest Region.
In May 2025, Jennifer completed her DM in Voice Performance & Literature with a minor in Musicology from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. For her dissertation, Jennifer received a grant to complete her research on 19th century female Italian composer and writer Carlotta Ferrari da Lodi. Jennifer is currently editing a two-volume anthology of Ferrari’s vocal works which will be published by Classical Vocal Reprints.
While at Indiana University, Jennifer taught private voice lessons and Song Literature I & II as an Associate Instructor. Since completing her doctoral coursework, Jennifer has been working as an adjunct faculty member at St. Cloud State University and Anoka Ramsey Community College in Minnesota. Along with her DM from Indiana University, Jennifer received her Artist Diploma from the same institution, her MM in Voice from Rice University in Houston, TX, and her BM in Voice from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ.
