As we wrap up our celebration of this year’s winners, there’s one more very special person we need to celebrate. ❤️🍻

After nearly two decades with the Indiana Brewers’ Cup, Sandy is retiring from her role as Judge Coordinator.

Sandy has been part of the Indiana Brewers’ Cup since 2007 and stepped into the Judge Coordinator role in 2015. Since then, her knowledge, leadership and dedication have helped shape the competition into what it is today. A world-recognized beer judge and a familiar face throughout the beer community, Sandy has given countless hours to supporting our judges, competitors and the competition as a whole.

It’s hard to put into words just how much Sandy has meant to the Indiana Brewers’ Cup. We are incredibly grateful for everything she has poured into this competition over the years, and while we’ll certainly miss having her at the helm, we couldn’t let her retire without raising a glass in her honor. 🍺

Please join us in congratulating Sandy on her retirement! If you’ve judged, stewarded, competed or shared a beer with Sandy over the years, drop a favorite memory or well wishes in the comments below. ❤️

Cheers to you, Sandy, and thank you for everything! 🍻

Join us in congratulating our 2026 Best of Show Beer Homebrew Winners, Alex and Patrick Williams (Kansas City, MO)! "Our brew days are typically double brew days, and each one is a family affair. We brew on the same equipment, and chat about recipes, competition plans, and new ingredients we’d like to try throughout the day. As for who keeps the competition medals, whoever took the lead on brewing and fermenting the recipe gets to keep the hardware. This year, that means each of us is taking home a gold medal."

“The IBRU Homebrew Club, which serves the Northwest Indiana and the Southeast Chicago suburbs, meets monthly at various breweries and similar venues in the area. We're a very active group that really focuses on exploring the making of beer, mead, cider and wine, as well as providing activities and experiences that our members probably wouldn't have the opportunity to enjoy on their own. If you're in our neck of the woods and are looking for a group of folks that supports fellow homebrewers/makers, check us out at IBRUhomebrewers.org or email us at [email protected].”

Join us in congratulating the 2026 Indiana Meadery/Cidery of the Year and Best of Show Mead/Cider Professional Division Winner, McClure’s Orchard (Peru, IN)!

“We'd been making some cider for home consumption for a while, but needing to add something new to the farm we pursued our Farm Winery Permit. We saw it as a way to share our fruit with more people in different ways and to help the farm be more sustainable with the value-added products. Rather than our apples having a shelf-life of 3 to 6 months, we are able to ferment, age and bottle to keep those same apples for a few years. Our goal has been to produce great ciders from our own apples.”

“Making cider and farming apples is definitely a lifestyle choice over an occupation.”

“I started brewing at Purdue University in my fraternity basement in 2009 and got my first professional job with Schnitz Brewing in 2017. I grew up in the restaurant industry and always enjoyed cooking food and watching people enjoy my creations and brewing has a lot of the same qualities for me!

Patoka Lake Brewing is part of Alcohol Acres. We joined forces with Patoka Lake Winery and Old homestead distilling and hotel in 2023. We all share one location outside of Patoka Lake State park.”

Join us in congratulating our 2026 Grand Champion Brewery of the Year, Primeval Brewing (Noblesville, IN)!

“Primeval Brewing has been open for almost 7 years now. If you combine professional and homebrewing, Tim has brewed for almost 20 years, Nathan has brewed for almost 25 years. When we decided to start Primeval Brewing, we wanted to have a place that focused on brewing traditional European beer styles that were fresh and what you would get if you were traveling there. Our taproom is family friendly and also offers fantastic pizzas, sandwiches, and live entertainment. If you appreciate quality beer made in small batches, stop by the taproom and give us a try!”

“I brew because I enjoy the process and because there's always something new to learn. Every batch is a chance to refine a recipe, improve a technique, or try something different. Even after more than a decade, I'm still learning new things and finding room to grow, which is one of the reasons I enjoy entering competitions. The feedback from experienced judges has helped me become a better brewer.”
