I wanted to remind you if you were on the list last time and for those of you who are new to this email list let you in on some information. First of all, please check out our website. This is where you will find updated information, sign up for tournaments, find our team calendar, etc.

Our parent meeting will be in the library next Tuesday starting at 5pm. We will have some past tournament shirts and team shirts available for donations to the team (we will take anything, $1 per shirt even).

New archer meetings (these are for students that have not competed on a school team) will be held during AcLab for C or D blocks (only one per day is required) on the following dates:

Nov 6
Nov 12
Nov 18

Our first practice will be 11/19/19 at SMS gym from 3-5pm. Our practices will be every Tuesday at that time and location unless otherwise stated in our calendar. We will host a tournament on January 25 and are asking for parent volunteers to help run it and setup. We will need help with concessions, lane officiating, scoring, gate workers and setup/teardown. Archers are expected to be there to work.

Here is a link to add our calendar so you can stay up to date with the team.

If you have any questions please contact me. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you next Tuesday.

With Google's free online calendar, it’s easy to keep track of life’s important events all in one place.

Don't forget we lose an hour travelling to Louisville. We shoot at 5:30pm Louisville time and you need to meet me near target #430 about 4:45-5:00pm to get arrows, scorecards and shirts. That means you will need to leave no later than 11:45 St. Louis time to make it on time. You are all excused from school and I have already sent the roster to the school. I have your target assignments attached here. Call or text me if you have any questions.

Hello everyone,

I need to know about Nationals. I have some people signed up but not a full team so there are plenty of spots. This is the expensive one at $35. Please bring cash or check to me ASAP so I can get them paid. the process for me to pay requires a deposit into the archery account, then once that goes through (3-7 days) I write a check request to the tournament for the total (1-? weeks). Below is some information regarding the tournament. We will probably shoot on either Friday May 10 or Saturday May 11. I won’t know for sure until April 8 when I am allowed to register us. We got tier 3 registration so we do not get first pick like we did at State. I am booking a hotel for Friday night with the plans of us shooting that afternoon-early evening and then sleep there and drive home the next day. The kids will be excused from school that day. If we don’t get that time and we have to shoot Saturday, the Friday night hotel still works, you will just have to drive back the same day you shoot. Hotels are pretty pricey for this area for this weekend every year and the book quickly. I have a link with some discounted hotels for archers but it must be booked by April 14. You will have to follow the instructions on this page to book the hotel.

Please email me with any questions. I understand that this tournament is very expensive and I understand if you cannot make it. This is the reason State is our highlight of the year.

2019 MONASP STATE TOURNAMENT reflection (also pictures on Tuesday)
- - TEAM SCORE 3340 - BEST STATE SORE IN SCHOOL HISTORY
FINISHED 11TH OUT OF 37 - WE SHOT BETTER THAN THE TOP 29% OF TEAMS IN THE STATE

- EACH YEAR THE COMPETITION GETS TOUGHER EVEN THOUGH OUR SCORE CONTINUES TO CLIMB.

- THIS IS THE HARDEST WORKING TEAM I HAVE EVER COACHED AND I AM VERY PROUD OF EACH AND EVERY ARCHER. WE STARTED THIS YEAR WITH SOME ARCHERS THAT HAVE NEVER PICKED UP A BOW, WE LOST MANY ARCHERS DUE TO GRADUATION AND OTHERS THAT DECIDED NOT TO COME BACK, OUR FIRST SCORE WAS BARELY OVER 3,000. WE FINISHED WITH THIS KIND OF SCORE BECAUSE WE DID IT AS A TEAM. OUR BEST SCORE WAS 284 SO WE DIDN'T HAVE ONE SUPERSTAR, WE HAD 24 SUPERSTARS THAT SHOT AS A TEAM. I CAN'T WAIT TO MOVE ON WITH THIS GROUP AND GO TO NATIONALS AND SHOW THE ENTIRE NATION WHAT SECKMAN HIGH SCHOOL CAN DO.

- COACH SHOOT - NO EXCUSES
I SIGNED UP FOR THIS TOURNAMENT KNOWING VERY LITTLE SO I ASKED WHAT I NEEDED TO DO. THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED TO BE THERE AT 5:30. SO I MADE MY $10 DONATION AND WAITED UNTIL 5:30. I FORGOT THAT I WOULD NEED A BOW SO I BORROWED A BOW FROM MY WIFE'S TEAM THAT I HAD NEVER SHOT BEFORE. I ALSO FORGOT ARROWS WITH 10 MINUTES LEFT I RAN TO THE PARKING GARAGE AND GOT ARROWS JUST IN TIME TO HEAR INSTRUCTIONS. THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE TO PICK WHICH ANIMAL YOU WANTED TO SHOOT AT AND PLACE YOUR ARROWS IN THAT QUIVER (THEY MOVED ALL ANIMALS BACK TO 15 METERS). MOST COACHES CHOSE THE RAM OR THE DEER BECAUSE THEY WERE LARGE, I CHOSE THE COYOTE (SECOND SMALLEST ANIMAL) BECAUSE I HAD ALREADY PLACED MY ARROWS LOL. WE WERE GOING TO GET 5 ARROWS AT PRACTICE AND THEN SHOOT ONE ROUND WITH AN ODD COLOR ARROW BEING DOUBLE POINTS. IN THE FIRST TWO ARROWS I NOTICED THE NOCK INDICATOR WAS IN THE WRONG PLACE AND ADJUSTED WITH THE LAST 3 ARROWS OF MY PRACTICE ROUND. WHEN I WENT TO RETRIEVE MY ARROWS I NOTICED I DIDN'T KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THE SCORING RINGS WERE SO I HAD TO ADJUST MY AIM POINT DURING MY ONE AND ONLY SCORING ROUND. MY FIRST ARROW WAS A 10, SECOND A 9 THIRD A 10 FOURTH A 9 AND FIFTH AND DOUBLE POINT ARROW WAS A 9 FOR A SCORE OF 56. AS THE SCORES WERE BEING TALLIED I WAS HAPPY WITH MY SCORE BUT KNEW I WAS GOING UP AGAINST SOME REALLY GOOD ARCHERS. THEY STARTED TO CALL OUT THE TWO WINNERS. MY NAME WAS FIRST SO I THOUGHT WOW GREAT SECOND PLACE, THEN CALLED THE NEXT NAME. THEN THE ANNOUNCER SAID THERE WAS AN EXACT TIE FOR FIRST PLACE WITH A SCORE OF 56. THAT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE AND I WANT YOU ALL TO TAKE AWAY FROM THIS STORY THAT IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT BOW YOU HAVE, WHAT ARROWS YOU USE BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY IS YOUR MINDSET. I WENT IN WITH CONFIDENCE AND BELIEVING THAT I COULD WIN. LET'S GO INTO EVERY PRACTICE AND EVERY COMPETITION WITH THIS MINDSET.

-WE WILL HAVE PICTURES AT PRACTICE ON TUESDAY MARCH 26. MAKE SURE TO WEAR YOUR JERSEY AND SMILE PRETTY.
