Thank you, Idyllwild!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and joined us for Idyllwild Art in the Park last weekend. We loved seeing so many familiar faces, meeting new friends, and watching our artists share their incredible work with the community.

We’re already excited to do it all again on September 19th!

Keep an eye out for our upcoming Artist Spotlights as we introduce the artists joining us for our September show. Some of your favorites will be returning, and we’ll also have a few new artists joining us for the first time.

We can’t wait to see you back at the flagpole on September 19th!

🎨 Tomorrow’s the day!

Idyllwild Art in the Park will be at the flagpole in IDY Park tomorrow, Saturday, August 15th, from 10:30 AM–5:00 PM!

We’ll be bringing together an incredible mix of returning favorites and brand-new artists, with everything from painting, photography, pottery, jewelry, wood carving, mixed media, candles, textiles, wearable art, and so much more.

This reel is just a little peek at some of the talented artists you’ll get to meet in person tomorrow.

Come spend the day in the heart of Idyllwild, support independent artists, discover something one-of-a-kind, and say hello to the makers behind the work.

✨ Returning Artist Spotlight: Dennis & Phyllis Patterson | Pixie Village Cottages ✨

We’re so happy to welcome Dennis and Phyllis Patterson of Pixie Village Cottages back to Idyllwild Art in the Park!

Their one-of-a-kind pixie houses bring a little bit of magic wherever they go. Each whimsical cottage is handcrafted around a real fallen log, individually designed to work with its natural shape, and then hand-painted and finished with charming little details that make every piece completely unique.

Perfect for the home or garden, these tiny creations are full of personality, imagination, and the kind of details you can’t help but lean in to discover. Their work has even been featured on Style Me Pretty!

If you’ve seen their booth before, you know it feels like stepping into a miniature enchanted village. We’re thrilled to have Dennis and Phyllis returning to Art in the Park and can’t wait to see what magical new cottages they bring with them.

✨ Returning Artist Spotlight: Linda & Charles Perkins | Artners ✨

We’re so happy to welcome Linda and Charles Perkins back to Idyllwild Art in the Park!

Partners in life since 1975 and “artners” since 1999, Linda and Charles create together with wire and paint, drawing inspiration from everyday life, love, and nature.

Their work is a true collaboration — layered, expressive, and full of story. Hearts and trees appear throughout their paintings and sculptures, becoming symbols of connection, growth, and love.

Their process is beautifully simple and environmentally friendly: no soldering, welding, or heavy machinery. Just their hands, wire, paint, time, and imagination.

Their work has been described as mixed media, assemblage, contemporary, outsider, and folk art — but Linda and Charles put it best: expressionism. Each piece invites its own experience, and somehow, each one seems to find the right home at the right time.

✨ Returning Artist Spotlight: Laura Ryan | Multi-Media Artist ✨

We’re so happy to welcome Laura Ryan back to Idyllwild Art in the Park! Laura has been part of the Art in the Park family for many years, and her work is as layered and expressive as the creative journey behind it.

A self-taught multi-media artist, Laura works in painting and textile art, drawing inspiration from nature, travel, memory, and emotion. Her work has been featured in publications including Pages, Somerset Studio, and Cloth Paper Scissors.

Laura’s creative path has taken her through abstract and expressionist painting, metalworking, printmaking, and eventually Nuno felting — a beautiful process that combines wool roving with silk or open-weave fabric to create richly textured textiles. She developed her own technique and has taught it throughout Southern California and Arizona.

From expressive paintings and portraits to one-of-a-kind felted wearable pieces, Laura’s work has a wonderful sense of movement, texture, and feeling.

We’re thrilled to have this longtime Art in the Park artist joining us again. Come say hello to Laura and see what she’s been creating!

✨ Returning Artist Spotlight: Veronique Branger | Veronique Branger Fine Art ✨

We’re delighted to welcome Veronique Branger of Veronique Branger Fine Art back to Idyllwild Art in the Park!

Born in Paris, France, Veronique is an accomplished painter and muralist whose artistic career has taken her from France to California and beyond. She studied fine art in Lyon and continued her artistic education in San Francisco, building a career that has included more than 40 large-scale murals throughout France, Spain, and Mexico, along with numerous public and private works here in California.

Today, Veronique works primarily in watercolor and acrylic, bringing her expressive style to landscapes, urban scenes, portraits, and spontaneous studies. Her work is full of movement, color, and a wonderful sense of place — whether she’s capturing a quiet moment between people or the beauty of the landscape around her.

We’re so happy to have Veronique returning to share her work with our Art in the Park community. Come meet her and experience her beautiful paintings in person!

✨ New Artist Spotlight: Robin Bryson | Gourd Artist ✨

We’re excited to welcome Robin Bryson to Idyllwild Art in the Park for the very first time!

Robin creates incredible one-of-a-kind works of art using gourds as her canvas, combining carving, woodburning, painting, beading, and weaving to bring each piece to life. Many of her creations also incorporate hand-woven pine needles, adding even more texture and detail to her work.

What makes Robin’s art especially unique is that no two gourds begin the same. Their natural shape, texture, color, and imperfections all become part of the finished piece — whether she’s creating a beautifully detailed wolf, a vibrant sea turtle, or something completely unexpected.

Robin has spent years sharing her love of gourd art with others through teaching and exhibiting, and we can’t wait for our Idyllwild community to discover her work.

✨ Returning Artist Spotlight: Matt Gunnell | Mattirondack ✨

We’re excited to welcome Matt Gunnell of Mattirondack back to Idyllwild Art in the Park!

Matt creates striking mixed-media art on wood, blending bold color, graphic lines, texture, and imagery into pieces that feel both modern and deeply personal. From birds and abstract forms to figures and symbolic elements, every piece has its own story and energy.

Working from his barn studio at Wigglebutt Ranch in Aguanga, Matt describes his work as creating “sacred objects for your journey” — one-of-a-kind pieces meant to connect with the person who finds them.

✨ Returning Artist Spotlight: Cory Lavy | Beard-A-Bear Woodshop ✨

This artist spotlight is a little extra special to us. ❤️

If you’ve spent any time in Idyllwild, chances are you’ve already seen Cory Lavy’s work. From the bears at the bank and ice cream shop, to George at the Historical Society, the eagle at IDY Park where we’ll be set up, and even, most recently, being featured on HGTV — Cory’s carvings have become part of the character of our little mountain town.

You’ll find his bears standing in front yards and cabins all over Idyllwild, sitting on mantels, and being given as meaningful gifts to family and friends. But they haven’t all stayed on the mountain — Cory’s bears have found homes across the country and around the world. Each one is carved by hand, with its own expression and personality — no two ever quite the same.

We may be a little biased because Cory is not only one of our favorite artists, he’s family. 😉 But there’s something pretty incredible about seeing his work woven into the community we call home.
