✨ Must-See Gem #4: Birthing Center ✨

Some of the most memorable Fair moments are the ones that make you stop, smile and say, “You have to see this.” That’s why our 25 Must-See Gems countdown includes a favorite that celebrates new life right here in Kansas, America.

At the Birthing Center, fairgoers can experience the miracle of life up close — from newborn calves, lambs, piglets, ducklings and chicks to the birth of a calf with “Bessie,” K-State’s birthing simulator cow. In partnership with KSU College of Veterinary Medicine, this exhibit is educational, heartwarming and a must-see for fairgoers of all ages.

Help us recognize our Hometown Heroes!

The Kansas State Fair Hometown Hero honors military veterans who have or are proudly serving our nation.

As a special tribute, the Kansas State Fair is seeking nominations for these special Hometown Heroes. From the pool of nominees, five (5) Hometown Heroes will be selected to be recognized for their dedication, sacrifice, and continued contributions to their families, communities, and the State of Kansas.

On September 11, 2026, the five (5) Honorees will be recognized through special access opportunities to the Kansas State Fair and grandstand event (featuring Trace Adkins) where public acknowledgements and commemorative recognition will be awarded.

To be eligible, nominees must meet all of the following criteria:

1. Be a United States Military Veteran, honorably discharged or retired from
one of the following branches:
Army
Navy
Air Force
Marines
Coast Guard
Space Force

2. Be a Kansas resident or have significant ties to a Kansas community.

3. Have demonstrated:
• Exceptional military service, and/or
• Continued service to their community, profession, or fellow veterans.

4. Be available to attend the Kansas State Fair on the assigned recognition date of September 11, 2026.

***GRANDSTAND ANNOUNCEMENT***

Fans can sing, dance and relive the music that defined a generation when DCOM: Live! comes to the 2026 Kansas State Fair on Sunday, September 20 at 4 P.M. The high-energy tribute concert will close out the Kansas Star Casino Grandstand entertainment lineup with a nostalgic celebration of Disney Channel Original Movie and series soundtracks.

DCOM: Live! brings the music of the Disney Channel era to the stage with six Broadway-caliber vocalists, a live band and choreography inspired by the movies and shows that shaped a generation. From the anthems of High School Musical and Camp Rock to the hits of The Cheetah Girls, Descendants, Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers and more, the show is designed for fans who grew up with Disney Channel and families discovering the music together.

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 19, at KansasStateFair.gov!

The Track Party Pit will give concertgoers the opportunity to be on the floor, standing right in front of the stage with lots of room for dancing!

VIP Deck – Standing
Want the ultimate VIP treatment? This ticket package includes access to the VIP Deck area, two beverage tickets embedded in your lanyard, complimentary appetizers available from 2:30-3:30 PM within the VIP Deck area, and early entrance to the Grandstand. Each VIP Standing ticket is $60.

VIP Deck – Reserved Table
Get all your friends together with the VIP experience! Reserve a table on our VIP Deck to enjoy the show from a private table that seats six. The Kansas State Fair is seeking skilled, team-oriented professionals to keep our historic fairgrounds running smoothly 365 days a year. We currently have openings for individuals who enjoy hands-on problem-solving and diverse daily tasks.

Available Positions:
1. Facilities Specialist (HVAC/Plumbing): Ensure fairground facilities are event-ready. Troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, and assist in leading maintenance projects.

2. Facilities Maintenance Repair Technician: Assist the Operations management team with skilled/semi-skilled building repairs, event set-ups and tear-downs, and general aesthetic maintenance.

3. Facilities Specialist – Electrician - We are looking for a skilled professional to handle electrical upgrades, maintenance, and installations across our campus (interior and exterior).

Qualifications:
• Proven experience in electrical, grounds, or facility maintenance.
• Proficiency in reading technical manuals, blueprints, or diagrams.
• Welding or trade certifications are highly desirable.
