Some Fair gems help you see the Kansas State Fair in a whole new way. Our next Must-See Gem is a stop for anyone who loves history, nostalgia and discovering the stories behind the Fair.

Visit the Kansas State Fair Museum, located on the lower level of the Lair White House, to explore photographs, vintage artifacts and memorabilia collected from across the fairgrounds. Each year, the museum features a rotating theme, and this year’s exhibit is “Competitions & Contests.”

From blue ribbons and Fair traditions to the friendly rivalries that have brought generations of Kansans together, it’s a fun look back at the moments that have made the Kansas State Fair special year after year.

The KSF Amazing Race - Family Edition is Back!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 19, 10am at the Education Center

Kids, grab an adult and come race through the fair on a quest to discover all the clues and make it back to the finish line first. Teams will begin the adventure at the Education Center where they will be given their first clue leading to a specific fair location. From there, teams will continue deciphering riddles for the next location clue until the final clue brings them back to the finish line where the winning team will get a fun fair prize pack. Plus, all participants will get a coupon for a free ice cream at the Dairy Bar for a post-race treat!

A BIG SHOUT-OUT to the Harner Family!
If you’ve driven by or through Gate #1, you’ve probably seen our pretty spectacular patriotic hay bale display—and there’s a pretty special story behind it. ❤️

The Harner family generously gave their time, talent and a whole lot of elbow grease to paint this display and help bring our patriotic vision to life. And they did it the night after losing their equipment and hay barn to a fire. Talk about showing up for our community when it matters most.

We are incredibly grateful for Tawnya, Shelby Sugar Creek Boutique And Gifts LLC and our own Haley Harner for all they do for the Kansas State Fair. And a huge THANK YOU to Sugar Creek Ranch for donating the hay bales!

We also want to give a special shout-out to General Manager, Bryan Schulz and his wife, Lisa, for lending a hand with this patriotic project, and to Color by Design for donating all the paint!

It takes a lot of people—and a whole lot of heart—to make the Kansas State Fair happen. We are so lucky to have people like these who are willing to roll up their sleeves and pitch in. 💙❤️🤍

From Ashes to New takes the stage at the Kansas Star Casino Grandstand in Hutchinson on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 6:30 PM, joined by Saliva, Saving Abel and Wabash & Lake.

Get ready for heavy guitars, big vocals and fan favorites from From Ashes to New, including “Barely Breathing,” “Die For You” and their recent No. 1 Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay hit, “Drag Me.” Plus, Saliva brings the early 2000s rock anthems, and Saving Abel brings the Southern rock hits.

While you can drop by the stables to see the horses up close in their stalls every single day from 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM, please note that the full wagon hitch appearances only happen on the specific dates listed above. Sept 12, 13, 14, and 20 are designated rest and prep days to ensure our beautiful horses stay healthy and well-rested! No full hitch shows will take place on those specific days.

✨ Must-See Gem #22: Llama Show ✨

Some Fair gems are easy to love the moment you walk in. Our next Must-See Gem is a fun stop for animal lovers, families and anyone who wants to see something a little different at the Kansas State Fair.

Stop by the Llama Show in the Ad Astra Building to see llamas up close as exhibitors show off their care, handling and showmanship skills. The show runs Sept. 19 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Sept. 20 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Want more llama time? Fairgoers can also visit the llama exhibit in Dairyland all 10 days of the Fair from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

And if you’re already building an animal-show day, Sept. 19 and 20 are a great time to do it. The Wild Horse Youth Challenge Mustang Show will also be happening that weekend in the Expo Center, with young handlers showcasing the trust, patience and work they’ve built with their mustangs.

The Mustang Show runs Sept. 19 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sept. 20 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
