GRO RACES SELLS FROG HOLLOW TO ZIA RIDES
If you missed our announcement at the starting line on Nov 2nd, let me fill you in.
The 25 hours in Frog Hollow was the very first event GRO Races created back in 2009. That year we had 73 people attend. It was a Halloween, so everyone dressed in costume. Many traditions began that first year, including the Midnight -Pie and Homemade goodie. For 16 years I prepared the “goodies” myself, with love. The 6 hours in Frog Hollow started the following October, 2010. There were 63 racers the first year of that event. The race moved to the spring beginning in 2013 and has sold out ever since.
For the many of those 16 years we have also had the same great staff and course volunteers. I feel extremely blessed to have had such a great community by my side to host these events.
Over the years the events have grown, with 25 Hours in Frog Hollow selling out a record 2 months early in 2024. For many years we had the same loyal racers. I call you friends! This year we had almost 50% new racers. Some of which are the children of those who attended in the early days. This shows GRO Races created a legacy.
The decision to sell these events was a very difficult one for me. After all, they were my baby. In 2022 I purchased a 13 acre farm property in Central PA and took over as the Race Director for unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley. Over the last couple of years I have been making the 3200 mile trip between Utah and Pennsylvania twice a year to host events. This year, between back to back events and fall harvest I made the decision to sell the events to Zia Rides.
I can not imagine a better organization to take over my legacy. Zia Rides has 10 years of experience hosting 24, 12, and 8 hour Mountain Bike Races in NM, CO and AZ. Their most popular events are 24 Hours in Enchanted Forest and Dawn to Dusk AZ. Expanding there operation to Utah just made sense. Zia Rides is a family run business, just like GRO Races. They plan to use many of the same staff and volunteers, so you can expect to see many of the same smiling faces during the event.

Zia Rides is in the process of moving all the web content over to their site. Once it is live , GRO Races will continue to host past results and a link to the new site during the first year of transition.

25 Hours in Frog Hollow - The time change falls on Halloween weekend in 2025 and 2026. It has always been GRO Races tradition to move the event back one week to avoid the conflict with the holiday. Zia rides is working with the BLM on the 2025 date and will announce it as soon as the calendar is set. Registration will open the first week in May.
