Paavo Nurmi Marathon

Paavo Nurmi Marathon Wisconsin's Oldest Marathon Held the Second Saturday in August, the 2022 event will be 8/13/2022 Point to point marathon in the great Northwoods of Wisconsin.

Starting in Upson Wisconsin the course goes along some of the most scenic area of the Penokee Mountain Range. Ending on Hurley's Famous Silver Street this event is a great time for all. Event categories include: Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 2 person Relay and 5 person Relay. Online registration ends at 7:00 pm; 8/10/2018
Participants can register in person at Packet Pickup up until 7:00 pm on

Excited to announce a NEW look to Paavo Nurmi Marathon for 2023...and beyond! ...ready?

My name is Lindstrom, and I am the new RD for The Paavo Nurmi Marathon. Excited!

I am going to do my best to maintain the history of the race, though I understand changes and hard decisions need to be made to bring The Paavo to new heights, and bring runners/walkers back to The Paavo!

The Paavo is all about community, and I'll do my best to maintain The Paavo mystique, while adding a family-friendly element.

A few changes for 2023:

~ A new page at Paavo Nurmi Marathon

~ An all-new website

~ Friday night Twilight 5K Run/Walk

~ Tech-tops and amazing finisher medals for Marathon | Half | RELAY finishers

~ August high-school cross country camp, culminating at The Paavo

Registration is LIVE, and I'm seeing a lot of excitement!

Paavo planning meeting monday june 27th Riccelli park hurley @ 5pm. Anyone interested in volunteering for any area of the paavo is welcome to join us. It is an exciting time being able to bring the paavo back to life after 2 years of covid interruptions. We have lots of wonderful new features being added this year. Bigger and better. That is our goal as a community.
