You'll almost feel the wind in your hair as John Bates delivers a vivid -- and FREE (donation requested) -- presentation on bird migration this tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, Sept. 22, at 10 a.m. at the Mercer Community Center!

Every autumn over 5 billion birds from nearly 500 species migrate across the northern hemisphere. In northern Wisconsin, the fierce winters force most breeding birds to seek warmer climes or risk death. Where do they go? How do they navigate? What are the risks? Where can you witness some of the greatest migrations in action? Come gain a deeper insight and appreciation for the wonders of migration!

⚡ Scheduled Citywide Power Outage ⚡

The City of Wakefield will experience a scheduled citywide power outage on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 6:00 AM to approximately 10:00 AM.

During this time, crews will replace power lines, poles, and the connection to the City’s substation. These improvements will strengthen our electrical system, improve grid reliability and resilience, and help protect against future disruptions.

🚧 Residents are encouraged to avoid the intersection of Charles Street and Sunday Lake Street so crews can work safely and efficiently.

📣 Not everyone is on Facebook, so help us spread the word to family, friends, and neighbors! Grandkids, here’s your excuse to pop in and see Grandma and Grandpa, and with Christmas right around the corner, it never hurts to earn a few extra brownie points! 😉🎄

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we improve Wakefield’s electrical infrastructure!
