Hi! We’re Sarah and Stephenie!

Outside of mahjong, we’re educators, wives, and moms to seven amazing kids between the two of us. Between school, family, and everything else life throws our way, we’re busy, but creating this community has been one of the most rewarding things we’ve ever done.

When we started HMC, we wanted more than just a place to play mahjong. We wanted to create a space where people could gather, connect, and belong. Over the last year, we’ve watched first-time players become confident players, strangers become friends, and tables full of people leave already planning their next game together. Seeing this community grow has exceeded anything we imagined, and it’s exactly why we do what we do.

If you’ve noticed that we’re rarely in front of the camera or featured on this page, that’s by design. While we’re the ones behind Huntsville Mahjong Collective, this community has never been about us. It’s about you-the people who show up, pull up a chair, learn something new, cheer each other on, and keep coming back.

So if you’re new here, welcome! And if you’ve been with us from the beginning, thank you for believing in what we’re building.

We're inviting our community to capture their summer mahjong adventures and memories with our Summer Mahj Challenge!

To participate:
• Screenshot or save the challenge template.
• Complete all 6 challenge squares between June 1 and July 31 using a different photo for each square.
• Share your progress and tag Huntsville Mahjong Collective along the way- no need to wait until your board is completed!
• Message us a photo of your completed board by July 31st, 2026 to be entered to win a Hulken bag and be featured on our page!

*One participant from our Huntsville/North Alabama mahjong community will be selected
