Calling all volunteer organizations! Houston Food Bank will bring an 18-wheeler to SHSU with shelf-stable goods on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from noon – until 2 p.m., at the Sam Houston State University, Bowers Blvd. Stadium Parking lot 14. The Houston Food Bank is preparing to supply up to 320 families with shelf-stable (i.e. non-perishable, non-refrigerated) food supplies. Walker County, surrounding communities, and Bearkat students and families are invited to the drive-thru distribution, which aims to provide essential food supplies to those affected by Hurricane Beryl and in need of immediate assistance. Volunteers will be stationed to assist in loading food directly into cars, facilitating a seamless process.
