Unfortunately this is the last and final announcement that the Tuesday Night Shows will be making.

This season has been a struggle with my schedule and my personal clients show schedule but I was willing to make it work one last season for everyone who loves these shows as much as I do. Sadly, the idea I had of showing a new group the ropes this summer so they were prepared to take over next year did not go as planned. Instead they ran with my shows and contacted the fair board without my permission and took my usual show dates that we always have for this show circuit. The dates posted on our showbills were difficult for all of us to make work but we have been trying tirelessly to pull it all together. Unfortunately, that has not happened and we are all saddened by the decision but the stress of organizing these shows on top of dealing with the rumors flying around have led us to officially cancel what was to be the final show season for this series management crew this summer.

Please know we all love and appreciate all of the support each and every one of you have shown over the last four years. These shows have been around for over 60 years and to see them end saddens my team and I. Please spread the word to any of your fellow exhibitors that you knew would be coming to these shows that don’t have Facebook as this is our only form of networking to all exhibitors.

Thank you and God bless💕

Hoof black application is always tricky! We asked our EC readers to share their tips and tricks for hoof black application and received SO many great responses. Here's a sneak peek...

Jessica Parris– “After applying, I have a spray bottle with water, and I mist the hoof. Voila. It’s dry. The water beads up on the polish, and it’s dry almost instantly. It’s an old school Halter horse trick. I can’t take credit. I learned it from my youth days from a Halter trainer.”

Colleen Conrad– “Always wear gloves. Put Vaseline around the rim before putting the lid on. [It makes it] easier to take off the next time.”

Michelle Terpening– “Always wear gloves and put the bottle in a coffee cup and set it away from your horse. I never hold the bottle when applying as I learned a nasty lesson by getting bumped. Hoof black splashed all over my face, hair, and hands.”

Tiny details matter when showing horses, especially when the smallest thing can mean the difference between a top placing or being at the bottom of a judge’s card. Recently, we asked our The Equine Chronicle readers the following question: What are the last things you check before you head into the show pen to compete?

Click here to see what they had to say!

They look easy…but take a few tries to master. I love polos because you can throw them in the washer, they are not overly expensive and you can create a great protection for your your horse.

As we enter Horse Show Season
1. Horses don’t get broke at home. Be brave and enter!
2. EVERY disappointment at the show is a learning opportunity..... Be humble, be open to change.
3. Everyone gets nervous. Everyone has bad days. Everyone makes mistakes. Literally: EVERYONE!
4. Don’t watch others in the warmup ring and start changing what you have been doing - if you see something cool or you want to step up your game that’s homework for after the show!
5. When we run out of knowledge, we often punish our horses. Seek help instead.
6. Be a competitor! But be a horseman first. There is always someone watching who sees you as a role model.
7. Supporting your fellow competitors and engaging with people will enrich your show life.
8. Know the rules of competition! Make sure your attire and tack is legal. Read the rule book, ask questions and be well prepared.
9. Have FUN, don’t sweat the small stuff!

The spin. It’s a make-it or break-it maneuver that’s used in all-around pattern classes including Showmanship, Horsemanship, and Equitation, as well as classes like Reining, Trail, and Ranch Riding. The spin, or pivot, exhibits a horse’s responsiveness and precision, a connectedness between horse and rider, and is an opportunity for exhibitors to heighten their degree of difficulty and ramp up their maneuver score. But the spin is also a source of debate.

While breed association rulebooks give some guidance on what makes the maneuver “correct,” it’s not the same in each discipline. Therefore, what makes a spin into a credit-earning maneuver is open to interpretation. Top trainers Robin Frid, Sara Simons, and Shannon Curl Holbin all weigh in on this topic.

OFFICIAL SHOWBILL!!
Make sure to join us for one last year! Please please remember, these are the shows that have been running for over 40 years with management change only. We love these shows and most of us have grown up with them😁 and as the showbill states…. We are not partnered or associated with any other shows at the fairgrounds.

In many ways, showmanship classes give competitors the opportunity to showcase the highest level of partnership between an exhibitor and their horse. Mastering the event requires intense attention to detail, an appreciation for precision, and an equine partner capable of rising to the physical and m...
