We've had a lot of questions, regarding the 2022 Lone Star Pirate Festival, so let's talk about where LSPF currently stands.
LSPF 2020/2021 was a long, LONG battle, with shutdowns, restrictions, performance lineup changes, city ordinance/permit nightmares, finding a new hotel, and venue complications. Fortunately, we were finally able to get the performers to the stage, the vendors to their booths, and thanks to everyone in attendance, we had a great day! As soon as the show was over, we began discussions for the next year, but there were some glaring issues that we couldn't overlook.
Here's some inside baseball
1. The venue. The feedback we received from our crowd is always taken into account, when making decisions about our future shows. Given the issues we had with the venue production team, the alleged theft of mugs off of one particular bar, no video footage of the bars (the cameras just happened to not work THAT day... I know...), and how complicated it is to get food to a place that doesn't want food, this left us looking for a new venue. Additionally, this year more people asked for an increase in vendor count, and we would love to give you that. That means we're looking for a place that can accommodate +/-800 - 1000 people, a large enough space for vendors, stage/lights/sound (or we have to rent them at GREAT expense), liquor licensing/ multiple bars to handle the very thirsty pirates, and can serve their own food or can allow food from outside sources. Maybe more important than all those factors, the venue has either has climate controlled conditions, is covered in the event of inclement weather, has lodging availability nearby, and parking would really be a plus!
2. Performers. We love how accommodating our performers have been. They work hard to give you the best show possible every year. With that being said, they have to get paid for their work, then they have to travel to Texas, which for everyone outside of Texas, is a long way. I'm sure everyone has noticed that travel costs are quite high, lately. All of that gets factored into all decisions regarding quotes, hiring, and ticket pricing.
3. The date. We've been looking at moving the date a little further into the calendar year, which may be better for weather, scheduling around other faires/festival/sporting events, but that takes time to work out. With any luck, we can find a date that works for most schedules, and doesn't conflict with too many big events locally, and across the country.
What all this means is this: We're still working on The Lone Star Pirate Festival. We aren't giving up on this endeavor, because we want to continue the fun, excitement, and rocking good times we've had. We've got a lot of ducks to get in a row before we're ready to start making announcements about the next show, but don't count us out. We're always looking for feedback, ideas, and input from all of you. Just like everyone, we have our regular schedules, jobs, and financial limitations, but we'll keep working on the future of LSPF!
Thanks for your continued support!
