🍺5 DAYS TO GO!🍺

The weekend is here, but we’re already counting down to the next one.

5 days until the Polish Harvest Festival
5 days until the bar opens
5 days until this b**r finds a much better home than the back of that truck 😂🍻

Cold Polish b**r + specialty brews from Baa Baa Brewhouse will be waiting.

The countdown is officially on. Na zdrowie! 🇵🇱🍺

Here’s a little secret about the Houston Polish Harvest Festival: there’s no giant event company hiding behind the scenes. It’s us. Our parishioners, friends, families, dancers, community members — and a whole lot of volunteers who somehow turn an empty festival ground into Dożynki every year!

With NEXT WEEKEND coming up quickly, we could use a few more people on our team!

Before you think, “I don’t want to volunteer because then I’ll miss the whole festival…” — we planned for that. Most shifts are only 2–3 hours. Help us pour a few drinks at the bar, sell some cake, keep the grounds looking good, help with parking or tickets, paint a few faces, or even spend your shift taking photos and videos - then clock out and go find your pierogi. 😎

No, you don’t have to speak Polish. You don’t need festival experience. You don’t need to know what you’re doing when you arrive. Someone will show you the ropes. We just need people willing to jump in and help.

This festival only happens because people decide to give a couple hours of their weekend to make something pretty special happen for thousands of others.

So grab your spouse, your best friend, your cousin, your neighbor — whoever you can convince — and come be part of the crew that makes Dożynki happen. ❤️

We’ll save you some pierogi. 😉

A SPECIAL GUEST GROUP IS JOINING US AT DOŻYNKI!

This year, our Dożynki stage is getting a special visit from our Lithuanian neighbors! We’re excited to welcome Smiltis- Houston tautinių šokių kolektyvas, a Houston-based ensemble bringing Lithuanian music, dance, and tradition to the Houston Polish Harvest Festival this year! 🎶

And if you’re wondering… why Lithuania at a Polish festival? Well, there are a few hundred years of history behind that answer. 👀📖

Poland and Lithuania were united for centuries, first through a dynastic union beginning in 1385, and later through the Union of Lublin in 1569, which created the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth — Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów. 👑 Until 1795, it was one of the largest and most culturally diverse states in Europe, bringing together Poles, Lithuanians and many other peoples, languages, faiths, and traditions under one Commonwealth. 🇵🇱🤝🇱🇹

Poland and Lithuania go WAY back — nearly 600 years back. So really, Smiltis isn’t crashing our Polish Festival… they’re just showing up to the family reunion. 😂 Because this is Houston, thankfully they only had to cross town instead of cross the Atlantic!

That’s what Dożynki is all about: keeping old traditions alive, sharing them with the next generation, and celebrating the friends and neighbors whose histories have been tangled up with ours for centuries — different dances, different languages, and the same love for making sure everyone knows exactly where we came from! 💃🕺

Come cheer on Smiltis, experience a little Lithuanian folk culture, and give our Houston neighbors the BIG Polish Festival welcome they deserve next weekend!
