For our 24th year of Texans tailgates as the Blue Crew Tailgate, our memories from hundreds of tailgates. Memories of Texans Talk message board members traveling in a van to see the first ever game at the Pro Football Hall of Fame and starting “a little tailgate” in the far Northwest corner of the blue lot. It was the spark that started a tradition.
Starting with the first tailgate with the hated Cowboys, a “dusty” pop up tent, and a stolen picnic table, the Blue Crew began with a great group of fans who created a pot-luck style, welcoming tailgate for fans to enjoy on gameday.
Though the years, our tailgate has grown and shrunk as the team has gone from playing awful to playing well to awful again. As the team successes and failures cycle, the Blue Crew tailgate is always there. We may not win the game, but we always win at the tailgate.
This 24th year, we will celebrate Bill and Ted’s (and Kat’s) Excellent Blue Crew Retirement Year! Bronco Billy, Kat, and Hardhat are not going away but tailgating and actually getting into the stadium is getting more difficult these days. We may be coming out to the tailgate and games, but it may not be with such frequency as past years.
Billy, Kathryn, and I hope everyone we have tailgated with at home and away, guest, or regulars, come out to help us celebrate the Bill and Ted’s (and Kat’s) Excellent Blue Crew Retirement Year!
