Today is about much more than a long weekend 🇺🇸

One of the most profound lessons we can teach our keiki is the true meaning of sacrifice. Whether our Scouts were up early this morning placing flags at the cemetery or taking a quiet moment of reflection at home, today is about stopping to honor the men and women who gave everything for our country.

Teaching our kids to remember and respect that sacrifice is how we help them build a foundation of gratitude and true kuleana. It’s an essential part of growing into compassionate, character-driven leaders.

To the families of our fallen heroes: we remember them, we honor them, and we say mahalo.

Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines have extended a special invite to our Scouting families for Aviation Day!

If you have a Scout between the ages of 13 and 18, this is an incredible opportunity for them to get some hands-on experience and explore real-world career paths. They’ll get to talk directly with the pilots, engineers, and operations teams who keep our islands connected and see what it really takes to work in aviation.

✈️ If they want to try out the flight simulators, you need to register early because those slots are extremely limited.

When you fill out the form, just make sure to write “Scouting America, Aloha Council” in the group registration section!

📅 When: Saturday, June 20

📍 Where: Hawaiian Airlines Headquarters/Hangar

Behind every confident Scout, there’s usually a mom who made sure they had their uniform, their gear, and the courage to step out of their comfort zone.

To the Den Mothers who somehow manage to keep a room full of energetic Cub Scouts focused and laughing, we see you. To the moms staying up late to sew on that hard-earned rank advancement, airing out muddy boots after a rainy campout at Pupukea, and cheering the absolute loudest at the Pinewood Derby, thank you.

We know that Scouting is a journey for the kids, but it’s a real commitment for the whole ohana. It’s the early Saturday morning drop-offs, the endless snack runs for the troop, and being the steady voice that tells them to keep going when the trail gets steep. You aren't just helping them earn patches; you are right there alongside them, giving them the foundation to dream big and grow into capable, kind young leaders.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms, aunties, and grandmothers who make the Aloha Council possible. Your keiki are better for it, and so is our community.

UPDATE: New Date: Saturday, May 16th 📣

Got a stash of empty soda cans and water bottles taking up space in the garage? Let’s put them to good use!

On Saturday, May 16 we’re hosting a massive HI5 Recycling Drive to support our local Scouting programs. Every bag of recyclables you drop off directly helps fund the adventures, camps, and leadership training for our keiki across the islands.

Here is how your ‘ohana can get involved:

🚙 Drop & Go: Pack your HI5-eligible cans and bottles into sturdy trash bags and swing by our parking lot. You don’t even have to be a Scout family to donate, so tell your neighbors!

🫶🏼Volunteer: We need some heavy lifters! We are looking for volunteers (and drivers) to help us sort, bag, and haul during two different shifts. (Parents, this is a perfect opportunity for your older Scouts to knock out some service hours!)

📅 Saturday, May 16th
🕘 9:00 am – 1:30 pm
📍 Aloha Council Parking Lot

🤝🏼Ready to lend a hand? Click the link in our bio to sign up for a volunteer shift or just plan to swing by with your bags!

We help kids build confidence, one small win at a time. In Cub Scouts, that foundation starts early and in a real-world space to find out all that they’re capable of. Whether they’re working through a team challenge or learning a new skill from a mentor they look up to, our keiki are learning how to be the kind of person who shows up, works hard, and leads with heart.

Watching your child take those first steps toward becoming a leader is a pretty incredible journey to be part of. It’s about giving them a solid set of values that will stay with them long after the camping trip is over.

Ready to help them dream big? Find a local pack and get started at scoutinghawaii.org/scouting-programs/cub-scouts/
