Fall Break is here! If you're looking for an easy way to entertain the keiki (and avoid cooking dinner), we’ve got you covered! 👾🍔

Join the Aloha Council this Thursday, October 8, for a community fundraiser at Dave & Buster's Ala Moana. When you show our flyer or QR code at the register, 20% of your qualifying food, non-alcoholic drinks, and Power Card purchases will go directly to our Friends of Scouting Campaign to support our local programs.

You don’t have to be a Scout to join the fun—this is open to everyone, so share this post with your friends, neighbors, and schoolmates!

Pro-tip: Can’t stay and play on Thursday night? You can just stop by between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM to stock up on Power Cards for your next visit, and your purchase will still count toward the fundraiser.

Camp Alan Faye Update & Recovery Fund Launch 🚨

Hurricane Lowell has left a devastating mark on Camp Alan Faye. Recent assessments of our 29-acre Kaua‘i property revealed extensive damage, including uprooted trees, blocked access roads, structural roof damage, and water intrusion.

Because of downed utility lines and unstable trees, the camp is strictly closed to all visitors until further notice. We ask all Scouts, families, and community members to please stay off the property while professional crews and emergency personnel conduct formal assessments and safety work.

This camp has served Kaua‘i families for generations, and seeing the damage is incredibly difficult. To address the immediate, labor-intensive needs of cleanup, hazard mitigation, and facility stabilization, we have officially launched the Camp Alan Faye Recovery Fund.

We know so many in our Scouting ʻohana are eager to step up and help, and we are deeply grateful for that support. Right now, the safest and most effective way to help us responsibly care for the property and continue our mission across Hawai‘i is through this fund.

🚨 MAUI SPORTSMAN’S CHALLENGE – SEPTEMBER 27 POSTPONED

Out of an abundance of caution, the Maui Sportsman’s Challenge scheduled for Sunday, September 27 at Camp Maluhia has been postponed.

Current National Weather Service forecasts related to Hurricane Nolo include the potential for higher winds across Maui County. Combined with the history of unstable mountainside conditions along the road leading into Camp Maluhia, we believe postponing Sunday’s event is the responsible decision for the safety of our Sportsman’s Challenge teams, volunteers, and staff.

We know this delay is disappointing. Our team is already working to identify a new date, and we will contact all registered teams as soon as those details are confirmed. In the meantime, please be safe and use this opportunity to prepare. Check supplies, charge devices, and be ready for the possibility of power outages and stronger-than-normal winds.

And, in the spirit of Scouting, please check on friends, family, neighbors, and others in our communities who may need an extra hand preparing. This weekend may look a little different than we planned, but there is still plenty of opportunity to do our Daily Good Turn.

Stay safe, Maui. We’ll take our shot at the Sportsman’s Challenge again soon.

🚨 Pirates of Pupukea Camporee Cancelled

Due to the continued strengthening of Tropical Storm Nolo and the forecast for hazardous winds at Camp Pupukea, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Pirates of Pupukea, scheduled for September 25–27.

Camp Pupukea’s ridgeline exposure can bring stronger winds than other areas of the island. After consultation with our Camp Ranger, review of National Weather Service Honolulu information, and discussion with our Oʻahu-based team, we cannot justify the risk to the health and safety of our Scouts, Scouters, families, and volunteers.

We know how disappointing this is. Many of us were holding out hope that the weather would cooperate and give us a great day at camp on Saturday, but safety has to come first.

Registered units are being contacted directly with additional information. Registration fees will be refunded to the original method of payment beginning next week.

Please use this time to make sure your families are prepared for the possibility of severe weather, and stay safe this weekend.

Our crew was ready. The treasure will just have to remain buried a little longer. 🏴‍☠️

When parents ask us about the long-term impact of Scouting, this is exactly the kind of story we love to share.

We recently got a fantastic update from an Aloha Council dad, Michael, about where his two daughters, Aroha and Kana, are off to next:

🦅 His youngest daughter, Aroha "Ari" Walsh, completed her Eagle Scout project through a community science initiative with the Audubon Society. She joined the Stream Explorers program at Maine Audubon, which engages youth in conservation and water health. Because of her outstanding contributions, Aroha was recently selected for induction into The Explorer's Club! It is incredibly rare for a high school student to be admitted to the club, let alone a student who got her start in Scouting in Hawaii.

🎒 His oldest daughter, Kana Walsh, was just accepted to Columbia University! But before she hits the books, she’s heading out on a backpacking orientation trip through the Delaware Gap. As Michael shared, her deep love of the outdoors was fueled by her time in her BSA Scout Troop and Venturing Crew right here in Hawaii.

As a parent, Michael's reflection on their journey says it all: "Thank you for all that the Aloha Council did to set her on this path in life. If it wasn’t for the council, the pandemic would have had a negative impact on her development instead of a positive one."

This is exactly what it means to Dream Big. We are so incredibly proud of Aroha and Kana for the foundation they built here at home.

Grab three friends and step up to the Maui Sportsman's Challenge! If you've ever wanted to test your outdoor skills while supporting local youth programs, this is your chance.

We are hosting a two-day fundraiser at Camp Maluhia for adults ages 18 and older. Four-person teams can choose to compete on either Saturday, Sept. 26, or Sunday, Sept. 27. No previous experience is required—we provide the equipment and safety instructions before the competition begins.

Event Highlights:

🏹 10 outdoor skill stations including sh***un, pistol, r***e, archery, slingshot, darts, atlatl, tomahawk/knife throwing, and an ai***ft gallery.

🥞 Breakfast, coffee, and lunch are included.

🏆 Awards recognizing the top individual and team performances.

Space is strictly limited to just 24 teams total (12 teams per day), so early registration is highly encouraged. Every entry directly funds the camps, service projects, and year-round programs that teach our keiki leadership, teamwork, and outdoor skills.

🚨 Update: Camp Pupukea Cleanup Details 🚨

Camp Pupukea took a hard hit from the recent weather, and the damage is significant. We have a major cleanup effort ahead of us this weekend and need our Scouting ohana to step up and help get camp back in shape!

These projects are labor-intensive, so we are looking for responsible, hardworking volunteers ages 14 and older. (Note: Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent, guardian, or unit leader).
