From the Lead Organizer,
We were having some difficulty retrieving the Gold Coins from our Wishing Well at the conclusion of our recent 13th annual event, but luckily Shnizzle the Goblin was on-hand and able to help out! In total, we retrieved 140 wished-upon coins from the Well (and with only a few goblin bites). With our dollar matching, plus our last-minute decision to contribute an additional one-thousand dollars, we will be making a $2400.00 contribution to North Carolina Food Banks! We are lucky to have such a caring and kind crowd for our event.
Speaking of luck: this year, we were lucky to welcome The Seelie Court, Samas, Fates & Foolery, Poppyseed the Fairy, and Safe Space Event Services to their first-ever Festival of Legends. We loved having each of you, and we hope your travels bring you back to us again next year – thank you for adding even more magic to our little event.
Fortunately, we had an amazingly successful first FoL Eve! Thank you to everyone who attended, and we are definitely doing that again next year.
We know how lucky we are to have kept the amazing friends we have made along the way. The Festival of Legends would not exist without them. Specifically, we would like to thank:
Meg, for fixing all of the problems I make for myself, for keeping me focused, and for driving my storage truck;
Dave, for making the long journey every year – I will always have pies for you;
Melanie, our Trash Goblin, our Trash Queen: thank you for getting dirty to keep our grounds clean;
Emma, for another outstanding Children’s Glen, and congratulations on the fastest pack-out ever;
Amber & Eric, for keeping all of our people hydrated and fed, and for always being our most-jubilant cheerleaders – we adore your entire family;
Liz & Tess, our irreplaceable first-aid first-responders: thank you for keeping everyone alive again for another year, with special appreciation to Liz for being brave, and to Tess for being kind;
Maggie & Duncan, for bringing imagination into the real world, and for so so so many engineering emergency rescues;
My amazing wife Michele, my own personal four-leaf clover: I only ever have good luck when you are around;
And finally, thank you to everyone who volunteered – you make the event happen – and to everyone who attended – you are why the event happens. You have provided us with a lot of Good Luck this year, and we will use it to continue making Good Luck for others.
We will have information about the 14th annual Festival of Legends, to be held in April 2027, soon. We hope to officially announce event dates by August, and for new vendor applications to open in September. If you need to get in contact with us, you can always send an email to [email protected].
We hope to see you again at the next event! Til then: only the best of luck to you and yours.
Sincerely,
~ Jeff
