Bay View Week Of Handbells

Bay View Week Of Handbells Welcome to the official page for the Bay View Week of Handbells! The event was established in 1978, and is held at the John M.

Even though the Bay View Week of Handbells is still several months away, many of the participants are already working on their music. A small group of West Michigan ringers rehearsed at Larry and Carla's house today, and made lots of progress! 😊🎢

We have 108 participants, including 10 first-time participants, 2 Wiltse scholarship recipients, and 96 alumni selected via a lottery process. There are currently 17 people on the waitlist, and if you find yourself on that list, don't despair. A lot can happen in the next few months!

We're delighted to confirm that Paul Kingsbury (our Bass Captain) has asked the 2025 Deep Pit ringers – Alex, Larry, Robbie and Sheena – to come back and do it all again next August! These musicians have an impressive amount of skill and experience with aluminum low bass handbells, and together they make a great team. Congratulations, everyone! πŸ˜ŽπŸ””

The 2025 Position 4 team included several first-time participants, including a recipient of an award from the Carl Wiltse Scholarship Fund! πŸ₯³ The team is pictured here before the first rehearsal. The big question is: Will they all be coming back to take part in the 2026 Week of Handbells next August? 😎🎢

Tomorrow is the last day that Bay View Association residents can be in their cottages. The John M. Hall Auditorium is quiet at this time of year, and the trees around the campus have already lost a lot of their leaves. A busy holiday season lies ahead for many of us, but we're already looking forward to next spring and summer, when this building will once again be filled with music and people!

Will you be at Bay View next August, for the Week of Handbells? Now's the time to apply if you hope to participate as a ringer. If you'd like to come to the concert, mark your calendar for Thursday, August 13th at 7:30pm! 😊🎢

This is a reminder that a couple of important deadlines are coming up this month! πŸ₯³

πŸ˜ŽπŸ”” LOW BASS RINGERS
If you'd like to be considered to play in the "Deep Pit" at next year's event, it's time to submit your application! This is for those with considerable experience at ringing aluminum G1-B2 bells.

πŸ€”πŸŽΆ POSITION COORDINATORS
Coordinators for the ringing positions P1 to P11 are selected to help with preparation during the months leading up to the event. If you are a team player with experience at the Week of Handbells, you love problem-solving, and have great communication skills, you're invited to apply.

The application deadline is NOVEMBER 15th - so don't wait much longer! You'll find plenty of information on the website, and if you have any questions, please ask. 😊🎢

Calling the 2025 Position 5 team members! Who's planning on coming back in 2026? Have you applied yet? In our opinion, the Bay View Week of Handbells is an UNMISSABLE event, but we admit to being a little biased. 🀣 Hope to see you again next August! 😁🀞
