A year ago, almost to the day, Lizzy Bassett began the process of bringing TEDxHopeCollege to life. Today, we could not be more thrilled to announce that TEDxHopeCollege is officially a Hope College student group. TEDxHopeCollege is here to stay and we could not be more excited!

And just like that, TEDxHopeCollege has become reality! Last night was more amazing than our team could have ever dreamed of. We hope than you are inspired to keep “turning the tables” in your everyday life, we certainly are!

Thank you to our speakers for taking this event to the next level with your ideas and incredible talks. Thank you to our volunteers for your dedication and making this event run so smooth. Thank you to our sponsors for providing the means to make this possible. Thank you to everyone who was in the audience last night or tuned in from home — your support means the world to us. WATCH PARTY ANNOUNCEMENT 🎉 TEDxHopeCollege will be hosting TWO (yes 2!) watch parties on Saturday (April 24) at 6pm! Since we cannot have everyone in the Jack Miller auditorium, these watch parties will be spaces to watch and discuss the speakers’ talks together. If you missed out on tickets for the Jack Miller auditorium, this is your chance to watch TEDxHopeCollege live and in community. Watch parties will be held in the BSC Great Room & Schaap Auditorium. Space is limited, so get your watch party tickets now! Tickets are discounted for Hope students. TEDxHopeCollege.com

We believe in the power a TEDx event has to cultivate discussion on this campus and want everyone to be able to watch it happen live. It's time to announce another speaker's title and introduce you to them! We're thrilled to introduce you to Fr. Nicholas Marie Monco, OP-- the chaplain to the St. Benedict Institute on Hope's campus!
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵
Father Nick graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 2006 with a BA in Economics & Philosophy. He joined the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) in 2006 as well before recieving his Masters in Divinity and Masters in Theology from Aquinas Institute of Theology (St. Louis) in 2013. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 2013 and was at heology teacher at Fenwick High School in Oak Park, IL until comint to Hope College in 2017! Father Nick wanted to apply to be a speaker "partly because (our Website Manager) encouraged me but mostly because the more I thought it the more I believed I had something to say that would be helpful to people." He's looking forward to "the moment when I've finished knowing that nothing has gone horribly wrong in my speech."

🚨 TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE NOW!!! 🚨 On Saturday, April 24th, 2021, our 10 speakers will take the stage in the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts to share TED Talks that will turn the tables! The event begins at 6pm and will wrap up around 10pm. It will include an intermission with time for conversation, food, and music (stay tuned for that announcement)! Tickets are $20 for faculty, staff, and community members & discounted to $10 for students.
