he Hobart Festival of Women Writers is an annual celebration of women’s voices in the literary arts, bringing acclaimed writers and emerging voices together in the Book Village of Hoba In conjunction with the Hobart Book Village and other civic and cultural organizations, the Festival offers an opportunity to celebrate and support women writers while basking in the beauty of the Catskills Region of New York State.

What a wonderful way to kick off the 14th Hobart Festival of Women Writers!

Friday was filled with creativity, conversation, and inspiration as writers gathered in the heart of Hobart for workshops, readings, and the always-popular Esther Cohen intensive. From poetry and visual arts to storytelling and scene-building, participants spent the day learning, sharing ideas, and connecting with fellow writers from near and far.

The festival continues this weekend, and it's not too late to join us!

Saturday is packed from morning to evening at the 2026 Hobart Festival of Women Writers!

The day begins with four engaging workshops covering everything from love poetry and book marketing to finding inspiration in everyday places and turning discouragement into motivation. After lunch, festival attendees can enjoy a public reading featuring Sandi Dollinger, Lindsey Ellis, and Margot Farrington.

The afternoon continues with another round of workshops, including political fiction, Japanese poetic forms, writing with care, poetry, and a special Family Poetry & Art Project. The day wraps up with a Public Flash Reading at 4:45 PM, followed by the Festival Reception at 6 PM under the tent.

Whether you're looking to sharpen your writing skills, explore new creative ideas, or simply enjoy a day surrounded by books, writers, and readers, Saturday offers something for everyone.

There's still time to join us. Walk-in registration opens at 8:30 AM today at the Hobart Community Center. Cash, check, and credit cards are accepted.

Whether you're a writer, reader, teacher, parent, or simply someone who loves great stories and good conversation, we'd love to welcome you. Workshops, readings, and special events are happening throughout the day.

The 2026 Hobart Festival of Women Writers gets underway on Friday, June 5, with a full day of workshops, readings, and creative inspiration in the Book Village of Hobart.

The day begins with Esther Cohen's intensive workshop, *Good Stories*, while festival attendees can also choose from workshops exploring food imagery in poetry, using painting and sculpture to inspire writing, and the essential building blocks of creating memorable scenes.

At 2:30 PM, join us under the tent for the Opening Reading featuring Jennifer Bartell Boykin, Christina Chiu, Ellen Meeropol, and Jo Salas. The evening concludes with a special public reading by 15 festival registrants at the Stamford Library.

Whether you're an experienced writer, an avid reader, or simply curious about the creative process, Friday offers the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in a community of storytellers.

The Hobart Festival of Women Writers is pleased to present its 2026 Art Exhibit, featuring the work of talented local and regional artists. This year's exhibit, "Consider This," invites visitors to pause, reflect, and experience a diverse collection of artwork created by women artists from across our communities.
