When you awaken to so many mourning doves calling it sounds like an opera and several flocks of Canadian Geese have infiltrated your camp you know you're at BLUESTONE STATE PARK in WV.

You sit and have breakfast as you watch bald eagles hunting for theirs. It really is a glorious place.

Last night out entertainment was a large company of skunks playing around our camp perimeter. Older ones teaching their young to forage and the young seemingly ignoring it.

Earlier this morning before the birds were awake natures called me out. Though blurry eyed and unhappy I was stunned at the sight of a least 10 deer bedding down in the heart of our camp area. One popped up her head to watch me. She did not alert the others they are somewhat used to people here.

We'd like to introduce Joe Flowers to our followers. Joe will be teaching "Trashcraft", covering uses for trash and other resources found all over the world. Joe will demonstrate survival hacks from the likes of Creek Stewart, and other lesser known techniques and improvisations.

Joe has traveled far and wide to learn and practice bushcraft. He is a knife designer, published writer, owner of Bushcraft Global where he takes students deep into the Amazon rainforest and has studied under the late great Mors Kohanshi.

We like to introduce Kris Hoogstraat to our followers. Kris will be teaching "Youth Bugout Bag" and "Build a Survival Fishing Kit" at the 2023 GatherThing.

Be prepared if you need to leave your home in a hurry. Natural disasters happen and you may have to leave your home. While building their bag these kids will get to make some useful cool tools, like signal mirrors and more!
