Road to 250: Time Capsule Edition 🇺🇸

The time capsule will be buried beneath the sidewalk on the courthouse square in conjunction with the upcoming exterior renovations to the courthouse, expected to begin in late July. A commemorative marker will be placed at the site to recognize this historic project.

The capsule itself will measure 36 inches in diameter and 36 inches in height and is intended to preserve a snapshot of Highland County in 2026 for future generations. The capsule is scheduled to be opened in 2086.

The committee is inviting civic and non-profit organizations, schools, businesses, churches, governmental offices, and other community organizations to submit items representing their activities, history, or role in the community. Suggested items include photographs, brochures, programs, newsletters, and other memorabilia that reflect your organization in 2026. To help preserve materials for the next fifty years, laminated or sealed items are recommended.
