Boughton Place

Boughton Place A nonprofit community center nestled in the Hudson Valley. Fostering creativity, connection, and learning through theater, workshops, and events for all ages.

Boughton Place is named for Dr. Smith Boughton, a leader of the 19th Century protest known as the Tin Horn Rebellion. Dressed as Indians in calico costumes, New York State tenant farmers nonviolently protested feudal landholding practices. Their success led to the 1846 revision of the NY State constitution, and later to the congressional Homestead Act of 1862, which ended feudalism in the United States.

Open Sessions are 2 to 2 1/2 hour psychodrama sessions offered by certified psychodramatists to the general public. No experience necessary. You may participate as little or as much as you want.
Recommended Contribution: $20/$15 for students and those on limited income. Proceeds go to support Boughton Place.

Yes, you read that right! With overnight accommodations on site, we're more of a campus than a regular old venue. Think of us next time you need space for a multi-day workshop, retreat, whatever you desire!
