Featuring six free classic westerns over four days, the Bosque Film Society hosts the 4th Annual Wild Western Weekend Free Film Festival January 22-25 at The Cliftex Theatre in Clifton
The Bosque Film Society will be hosting its 4th Annual WILD WESTERN WEEKEND Free Film Festival featuring six free classic westerns in four days January 22-25 at The Cliftex Theatre in Clifton.
Thanks to the generous donations by BFS’s sponsors, admission will be free to the public. Seating will be limited to 150 moviegoers on a first-come, first-served basis.
Giving our public exactly what they want, the Bosque Film Society will open the festival screening John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart and Lee Marvin in John Ford’s The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Friday will feature the critically-acclaimed Shane (1953) starring Alan Ladd for the 4 p.m. family matinee; followed by the Mel Brooks’ satirical and controversial Blazing Saddles (1974) at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, John Wayne returns to the screen for John Ford’s second film in his cavalry trilogy She Wore A Yellow Ribbon (1949) for the 4 p.m. matinee; followed by Michael Mann’s visually stunning The Last of the Mohicans (1992) starring Daniel Day Lewis and Madeleine Stowe at 7 p.m.
The free-to-the-public film festival will wrap up with Edward Zwick’s epic historical western Legends of the Fall (1994) starring Brad Pitt, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Julia Ormond and Aidan Quinn Sunday at 4 p.m.
Established in October 2020, the Bosque Film Society is a non-profit organization focused on promoting film appreciation, education and production in Bosque County, Texas while serving as the “Friends of The Cliftex Theatre,” the longest continuously-operating movie theater in Texas, showing movies on the big screen since 1916.
