There will not be weddings for the next 2 weeks here at the Shuford House. We've had a couple of cancellations so our next wedding will be on October 25th, 2014. This will also be the last wedding that John and I (John and Martha Hodges) will be handling as we are giving up the manager's job here at the Shuford House and Garden. We took on this position nearly 8 years ago at the request of the board of directors at that time. We volunteered to move in and manage the property for a period of 12 to 18 months but have stayed a lot longer that originally planned. When we gave our notice earlier this year we agreed to stay long enough to finish out the "wedding season" which generally ends the end of October. We have booked many weddings for next year but the newly hired manager will be on staff to complete them.
We have enjoyed our time working with all of the bride and grooms we've booked over the years as well as the clubs that meet here on a regular basis - The Hickory Woman's Club, The Junior Women's Club, and the Senior Citizens' Club. Good things always come to an end and our time has come! I'm sure the new board of directors will find someone that will enjoy working with everyone just as we have and I hope they will continue posting to a page so that our many followers can keep up with the activities here at the Shuford House. We have appreciated the many nice comments we've received over the past years and look forward to continuing to follow the activities of the clubs and following up on the weddings we've booked for 2015. You will hear from us following the October 25th wedding for Brittney Wilson and Dana Baynard. Following that event you will be introduced to the new resident manager.
