Why Every Twin Ports Neighborhood Deserves a Flagpole
There’s something special about the Twin Ports. Something you feel when you cross the Blatnik Bridge, when the fog rolls in off the lake, or when you watch the Aerial Lift Bridge rise for a passing ship. Duluth and Superior aren’t just beautiful places to live; they are communities steeped in hard work, pride, and deep-rooted patriotism. Generations of shipbuilders, teachers, railroad workers, veterans, miners, nurses, and small business owners have made these towns what they are. That’s worth honoring.
One simple but powerful way to celebrate where we live is by flying a flag. Whether it’s the American flag, a military service banner, a POW/MIA flag, or a flag representing your family’s heritage, it sends a message about what you believe in and what you stand for. In a place like the Twin Ports, where the seasons are dramatic and the landscapes are bold, a flag waving in the breeze feels right at home.
We’ve seen it time and time again: one house adds a flagpole and soon others follow. Neighbors take pride, not just in their own homes, but in the whole block. A street lined with flags adds a timeless charm that fits perfectly in our region. In Duluth, you might see flags fluttering along London Road, tucked into hillside neighborhoods, or outside lakefront homes. In Superior, you’ll find them on corners where families have lived for generations and where people still wave to each other on morning walks.
This region is no stranger to sacrifice or service. So many in our community have served in the military, supported loved ones in uniform, or worked essential jobs to keep our towns running. Flying a flag is a way to recognize that legacy, to remember what others have given, and to show that we don’t take our freedoms for granted.
Here at True North Flag and Flagpoles, we’ve helped hundreds of local families and businesses add flags to their properties. We offer installation, service, and materials that are built to hold up against even the harshest Duluth and Superior winters. When the wind whips off Lake Superior and snow piles high, you want to know your flagpole is secure and your flag can stand up to the elements. That’s what we’re here for.
