The 2024 Christkindl Markt was a huge success. We thank our vendors and visitors for their support. The passport program we introduced this year generated significant interest, with numerous participants submitting completed passports. Our three winners were chosen by Kaya, daughter of Hayato, manager of the Tin Mill Restaurant.

Here’s a little sneak preview of what to expect at this year’s, Christkindl Markt, at the Inn at Hermannhof’s Festhalle this coming weekend (December 9th and 10th from Sat & Sun from 10am - 4pm)

We’re also thrilled to announce that due to the popularity of this event we’ve added another location, in addition to the Festhalle, at the Wagon Works building located at 304 Gutenberg! Can’t wait to see you there!

Curious about the history of Christkindl Markts? These traditional markets, also known as Christmas markets, originated in Germany during the late Middle Ages. The first recorded Christmas market dates back to 1310 in Munich, Germany. Initially intended to provide a festive atmosphere for people to shop for holiday goods, including gifts, decorations, and seasonal foods, these markets have evolved over the centuries. Today, Hermann, with its deeply rooted German heritage, continues this tradition with its very own Christkindl Markt at the Inn at Hermannhof, hosted every December. This charming event not only captures the essence of traditional German markets but also offers a unique American twist, blending old-world charm with local flair. Visitors can experience the magic of the season while enjoying locally produced wines, artisanal crafts, and delicious treats in the heart of a town that pays homage to its German ancestry. Join us at the 2023 Christkindl Markt at The Inn at Hermannhof's Historic Festhalle AND newly added vendor space at the Wagon Werks building at the corner of E. 3rd and Gutenberg. Explore a diverse collection of handcrafted gifts, artwork, clothing, and much more. Admission is free! We are asking for your support - and will be collecting a donation at each entrance that will go to assist the local community Christmas program.
