One Hero at a Time ONE HERO AT A TIME is about making a True Impact in One Warrior and their Families lives. We must take care of our own! This is how it started.
What we do is something that you can do in your community as well. By using the resources from your community you too can Honor and Support a Soldier/Marine/Airman/Sailor from that community. Businesses, fellow Veterans and civilians want to support our wounded. By organizing these resources and building a group of Veteran based volunteers OUR Nations Warriors can be reminded that their sacrifices
are not forgotten and OUR Nation is grateful for the price they have personally paid for OUR Freedoms! In 2009 we heard about a benefit that was being held in Pahrump Nevada "Bikers Giving Back" for a servicemember injured in Afghanistan. Three of us, myself Rick , Bob McManus and John Stratton rode over to support this benefit. When we returned we were so taken by this experience that we decided to do more for this servicemember Michael Araujo. Soon after plans were being made to create our own benefit for Michael. We tossed ideas around and with a lot of volunteer help from a lot of people and groups such as the Warrior Brotherhood VMC, U-Guys M/C, American Legion Post 149, VFW Post 3848 and many others motorcycle clubs, Veterans organizations, civilians and military personel we were on our way! We pooled our resources and started putting it together. Individuals like John Stratton building the stage, beautiful Alice Smaldino and her team of ladies organizing and collecting prizes for the raffles, Chick Smaldino (Updog) organizing the bands, producing the show and providing sound and lighting. We then needed a name! We were talking about calling it "An American Hero" when Alice said "let's do this every year for ONE HERO AT A TIME". And the name for this event was born! In September of 2010 we had our first One Hero at a Time benefit. It was a huge success for Michael Aroujo and his family!
100% of the donations go directly to the Hero and his family! We feel this is very important! At the entrance to the event each person attending hands their entry donation directly to the recipient or a family member. Then we, as the volunteer team put on the wrist band, and they can then come in and have a really good time. The families go through so much! As we Honor each Warrior it is also very important to Honor their Family members as well. These men and women can heal no other way unless WE support them and together we can make a lasting impact! Please remember if you visit our page to hit the like button and SHARE this site to help spread the word! Thank you from all of us volunteers that make up One Hero at a Time and you too can accomplish Great things for OUR Nations Warriors! Thank you ONE HERO AT A TIME

Robbie Knievel was more than a Brother or friend! He helped make an impact because he truly cares about the Veterans of the United States Armed Forces. I didn't ask Robbie to join our Team, he asked me. I wanted to ask him but that's not our SOP. I and our Team enjoyed his contributions and he was a true friend and Brother. He is one of the very few hairy legs I've had on the back of my scoot and as I told him then and since, he can't set still on the back worth s**t! I'm richer for running with Robbie and to the media that got him wrong.. You had it all wrong is all I'll say! Robbie was the best in the air and on the ground standing for what he believed in!

Our thoughts and prayers are for our Brother, OHAAT Volunteer, Navy Corpman William Lehman who can use all the prayers that can be sent on his behalf.
Our Brother Doc was in a very bad wreck Monday Oct. 7th, 2019. He is alive and just as he served Honorably giving his Marines a chance, he too has a chance. He is an admin. of this OHAAT page and our Brother. So everyone knows he's tough and he's a fighter. Our Brothers we Honor gave him strength as he has told me on more than one occasion.
He's in the ICU in St. George UT. ~Maddog~

ONE HERO AT A TIME is about honoring and making a true impact in One Warrior at a time and his family, as well as building a network of heroes who will support each other throughout their lives.
This is how it started. In 2009 we heard about a benefit that was being held in Pahrump Nevada "Bikers Giving Back" for a service member injured in Afghanistan. Three of us, myself, Rick Hillis, Bob McManus and John Stratton rode over to support this benefit. When we returned we were so taken by this experience that we decided to do more for this servicemember Michael Araujo. Soon after plans were being made to create our own benefit for Michael.
We tossed ideas around, and with a lot of volunteer help from individuals and groups such as the Warrior Brotherhood VMC, U-Guys M/C, American Legion Post 149, VFW Post 3848 and many other motorcycle clubs, veterans organizations, civilians and active duty military personnel we were on our way. A plan began to develop, and little did we know at the time, it would replicable, portable, scalable and actually a master plan for annual events both in Las Vegas and Mesquite, Nevada, or anywhere in the country.
We then needed a name. During this discussion, we were talking about calling it "An American Hero" when Alice Smaldino said, "let's do this every year for ONE HERO AT A TIME", and the name was chosen, and the annual event was born.
We pooled our resources and started putting it together. Individuals like John Stratton built the stage, beautiful Alice Smaldino and her team of ladies organizing and collecting prizes for the raffles, Chick Smaldino (Updog) organizing the bands, producing the show and providing sound and lighting.
In September of 2010 we had our first One Hero at a Time benefit. It was a huge success for Michael Aroujo and his family. This event is about honoring the recipient, so 100% of the donations go directly to the Hero and his family. There is no skim, no overhead, we feel this is very important. At the entrance to the event each person attending hands their entry donation directly to the recipient or a family member.
The families go through so much! As we Honor each Warrior it is also very important to honor their family members as well. These men and women can heal no other way unless we support them. Together we can make a lasting impact!
What we do is something that you can do in your community as well. We must take care of our own, we must welcome them home personally. By using the resources from your community, you too can honor and support a Soldier, Sailor, Marine, Airman from your community.
Businesses, fellow veterans and civilians want to support our wounded, but they also want to know they are spending their hard-earned money to support a veteran. By organizing these resources and building a group of local veteran-based volunteers, our nation's warriors can be honored and reminded that their sacrifices are not forgotten, and the community is there for them. Donors can participate personally, with their time and talents, and see their impact on a local hero, as they honor him personally and get to know him. Participating in One Hero at a Time ensures that the donors money all goes to honoring and helping the veteran.
Over time, our experience has showed us, that not only is the recipient honored, but those veterans who volunteer their time and talents are as well. The network of volunteers continues to grow, and everyone involved is impacted in ways no one could have imagined in 2009.
