The Sandy Lee Songfest features award-winning songwriters! Get to know what inspired the writers as they penned the lyrics to the hit songs that are so familiar to us all. Voted KTAI Top 10 Event

Come listen to some of today's top music writers, up and comers, and chances are you will hear a hit before it is even released! Don't miss this great event in a historic and culturally rich little community on the banks of the mighty Ohio River! All proceeds from the event go to local non-profits through an annual grant application.

FOR A FEW NIGHTS EACH SUMMER, HENDERSON BECOMES A SONGWRITER TOWN. 💚

Writers make their way to our little corner of Kentucky.
Local spaces turn into listening rooms.
Chairs get pulled in close.
And suddenly, you’re sitting just a few feet away from the people behind some pretty incredible songs.

That’s always been part of the magic of Songfest.

No big stage separating the songwriter from the audience. Just the songwriter, the story behind the song, and a room full of people listening. 🎶

There’s nothing quite like Songfest in Henderson. 💚

Every song has a story. So does Songfest. 💚

Before Songfest became the festival we know today, there was a friendship, a love of music and an idea.

Henderson native and hit songwriter Kerry Kurt Phillips was a good friend of Sandy Lee Watkins. Kerry, and a small group of friends, helped take an idea rooted in that friendship and love of songwriting and turn it into what would become the Sandy Lee Watkins Songwriters Festival.

The festival began in 2010, and this was our original logo from those early days. 🎶

Sixteen years later, the venues may look different and Songfest has grown — but what happens in the room is still remarkably simple:

Songwriters. Their songs. Their stories. And people gathered around to listen.

That’s where our story began. 💚

Just a few days ago, these stages were filled with songs, stories, laughter, and standing ovations. Today, they’re quiet—but our hearts are anything but.

Thank you to every songwriter who traveled to Henderson to share your music and your stories. Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, board members, venues, photographers, sound crew, vendors, and community partners who made this festival possible.

Most of all, thank you to every person who attended a show, bought a ticket, shared a post, or simply told a friend to come. You are the reason this festival continues to grow.

For four days, we celebrated the people behind the music while honoring the legacy of Sandy Lee Watkins. We couldn’t have done it without this incredible community.
