In celebration of Tartan Day, we would like to share our 25th Anniversary Twice Proud Tartan! ✨
Each color has been carefully selected to represent the cultural threads that connect Texas and Scotland:
• Blue – A strong foundation color representing both the Scottish Saltire and the Texas state flag. The doubled thread count honors the enduring bonds of tradition and the depth of shared heritage.
• Tan – Symbolic of the limestone walls of the Alamo, this color carries particular weight: nearly 80% of the soldiers who died defending the Alamo were of Scottish descent. This thread honors their sacrifice and embodies the bravery and defiance that are woven into both the Texan and Scottish identities.
• Red – Echoing the bold red of the Texas flag, red stands for courage, vitality, and the fierce independence shared by Texans and Highlanders alike.
• Green – A subtle yet essential thread, green evokes the thistle of Scotland and the wild heart of the Texas Hill Country. It represents growth, resilience, and nature’s tenacity.
• White – The purity and pride of both the Scottish Saltire and the Lone Star flag. It also honors the volunteers and community members who embody selfless service year after year.
• Black– Providing contrast and definition, black symbolizes strength, clarity, and the enduring structure of tradition. It anchors the tartan much like the storied past anchors the present-day celebration.
Together, these colors form a tartan that proudly reflects a community that is, without question, “Twice Proud.” 🤝
