The 2026 Frontier Tour rolls across UT, ID & MT and ends with a championship throwdown in SLC. Riders. Skiers. Fans. One Epic Series. WHAT IS PRO SKIJOR & THE FRONTIER TOUR? Skijoring is an adrenaline-fueled winter sport where a horse and rider pull a skier at high speed through a course packed with gates, jumps, and rings. It’s the ultimate collision of Western cowboy grit and ski culture thrill - fast, wild, and unforgettable. Competitors battle for cash, prizes, and glory, while spectators enjoy not only the races but a full-on festival atmosphere with food, music, and non-stop entertainment. PRO SKIJOR’s Frontier Tour takes it to the next level - five action-packed races across the West, leading to the Championship Finals in Salt Lake City, Utah. More than a competition, it’s a show, a party, and a movement that blends high-octane action with the best of winter culture. Don’t just hear about it - experience it. See tour dates and locations below. Grab your tickets today or register to compete and be part of the ultimate winter showdown!

The future of skijoring is looking pretty darn good!

Our Lil Buckaroos might be some of the youngest competitors out there, but they sure know how to get a crowd cheering! They’re incredible little athletes.

Stormy weather in Utah has us thinking about one thing… SKIJORING SEASON.

We’re hoping all these fall storms are a sign of an amazing snow year ahead, because we’ve got one epic 2027 season coming!

And with October right around the corner, it’s a great time to start shifting into skijoring-specific prep. Here are 3 things to start dialing in:

1. Build skijoring-specific fitness for your horse.
Start incorporating more conditioning and strength work so your horse is prepared for the demands of short, fast runs. Hill work, aerobic conditioning, progressive speed work and proper recovery can all play an important role in preparing for the season.

2. Get your gear dialed in.
Check your tack, ropes, skis or snowboard, boots, helmets and other equipment now. Don’t wait until the first race weekend to find out something needs to be replaced or adjusted. This is also a great time to talk with your farrier about your horse’s winter hoof care and traction needs.

3. Start practicing as a team.
Practice rope management. Let the skier work on gates, turns and body position independently. Make sure the horse is confident with the rope, skier, noise and movement behind them. Then start putting the pieces together progressively.

A fast horse + a talented skier doesn’t automatically equal a fast team!

MEET THE ATHLETES OF PRO SKIJOR.

We’re excited to officially launch a new series as we make our way toward the 2027 season:

THE ROAD TO 2027 | ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT

And for Episode 1, meet Rosie Smith.

Rosie is one of those people who somehow does a little bit of everything.

She rides in skijoring.
She skis in skijoring.
She competes in hunter/jumper and dressage.

In the winter, when she isn’t racing, you’ll find her working ski patrol. In the summer, she works on a cattle ranch.

She’s also an artist, a chicken momma, an all-around horsewoman and so much more.

We had so much fun spending an evening with Rosie, watching her ride, meeting some of her animals and getting to know the person behind the athlete.

Because as impressive as everything Rosie does is, the best part of Rosie is Rosie.

She’s talented, tough, hardworking and exactly the kind of person who represents what we love about this sport and the community behind it.

The athletes really are the heart of skijoring. As we head down the Road to 2027, we’re going beyond the races to introduce you to the athletes, horses and personalities helping shape PRO Skijor.

This is their sport.
These are their stories.

Episode 1: Rosie Smith, presented by Warbonnet Hats.
