LEGACY. ❤️

That’s the word that came to my mind last night. I was truly in awe. I knew Ms. Adella was THAT GIRL, but to actually see all the love in the room and feel her presence through everyone she touched was amazing.

For years, I’ve known and grown up with her daughter Amber. I’ll never forget when I finally got the nerve to ask the GREAT Adella Gautier to come to my twins’ birthday party. She was so humble about it and told me she wanted to do it at no charge. Her only request was that I promise to get Amber and Katie out the house more. 😂 And she definitely got Amber to come ride that birthday train!

Ms. Adella would always be in my DMs telling me about her shows, her work and everything she had going on. And of course, I was always “too busy” to make it. That lady had SO MUCH energy, I honestly don’t know how she did it all.

Last night was such a treat. Seeing my Prep family in the building, seeing the love, hearing the stories and witnessing her name and legacy continue on was something special.

Adella Gautier — a name that will continue to live on. ❤️

When I wanted to build and run Kay’s Place, I asked my mama to retire so she could help me with the kids and give me the freedom to do it.

And she did.

Of course, she would always remind me, “You got four kids!” 😂 That was Mama. She supported my dream, but she never let me forget that being their mother came first.

She helped me so I could pour into something I loved.

Then life changed.

When it became time for me to care for her, there wasn’t even a decision to make. I put my beloved Kay’s Place to the side. The place I had worked for, prayed for, loved, and built meant so much to me—but suddenly, it didn’t matter anymore.

My mama mattered.

She had stepped in for me when I needed her so I could raise my babies and chase my dream. So when she needed me, it was my turn to step in for her.

Before there was a diagnosis, before there was a case, before there was hospice, there was a girl and her mama.

And before Kay’s Place was ever a place, there was Mama helping Kay.

So when the time came, Kay’s Place could wait.

Before I even thought about Kay’s Place, I remember sitting next to her at a baby shower, bragging about how good the food was while she was the one who made it. When I finally started my own journey, all it took was one call, and she’s been there for me ever since. Happy birthday, sis! Here’s to endless laughs, unforgettable memories, and making even more this year
