Now in its 27th season, the Albert Schweitzer Organ Festival Hartford brings some of the world’s best young organists to compete for significant cash prizes to support their education and career endeavors. It consists of a High School Competition and a Young Professional Competition held on alternating years, along with Festival Concerts. This year's Young Professional Competition this year will b
e held on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Three finalists will each perform a 45-minute recital, with performances beginning at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 12:30 p.m.
2024 Young Professional Competition judges are David Hurd, Kimberly Marshall, and James O'Connell. The competition was founded by David Spicer and previously was held at the First Church of Christ, Wethersfield. The winner of the competition’s first Young Professional prize was Paul Jacobs. Prior to the pandemic and following our 2021 competition, other aspects of the Festival include Festival Concerts, choral evensong, and a live hymn playing competition.
