A few people asked me to share the poem I started last night with, by my friend, David Roche. 🩷 He died unexpectedly last week.

HOW SWEET THE DEATH OF TIME
by David Roche

Life, that flickering gift,
rearranges itself
as we die.

My soul, compassionate but stern,
begins to remove my boundaries.

Monday has left the calendar
to go dancing
with 1957
and July.

My past is slowly melting
into a pool of déjà vu.

Past and present meet at last
in sobbing embrace.

Oh, I love the way I am dying
with slight and constant pleasure.

I love the way my skin gives way
in little flaking choices.

I love the way my paradigm succumbs.

How sweet the death of time.

The earth, my long-rejected lover,
is licking me to death.

We die each day as we live it,
from and of the world and in it.

Death is the shedding of the linear illusion.

At the end of Other People's Poems, I always send my friends home with this blessing, "Beannacht" by John O'Donohue (complete with his pronunciation of "azure").

But this was the first time i did it with a kitten in my arms! 😻
