Field Trip and Guide Coordinator Justin checking in here to cap off our amazing 2025 festival. We ended up seeing 269 different species during our festival and submitted over 550 eBird checklists (Trip Report in the comments below). From the dry desert scrub upriver, to the rich riparian woodland sanctuaries throughout much of the RGV, to our coastal prairies and mudflats on the gulf coast, our festival visited every nook and cranny of the Rio Grande Valley. Some highlights include Red-billed Pigeon, Groove-billed Ani, Magnificent Frigatebird, Hook-billed Kite, Roadside Hawk, Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl, Aplomado Falcon, Rose-throated Becard, Brown Jay, Tropical Parula, Mangrove Yellow Warbler, Morelet's Seedeater, and sooo many more.
I want to make a huge shout out to everyone involved in planning, coordinating, sponsoring, and PARTICIPATING in our festival this year! Special shout out of course to our fantastic suite of guides who bring the best mix of local knowledge as well as guide experience from all over the world. Additionally, our crew of well over 100 volunteers that help make this festival happen over the course of the year are truly the heroes that none of us deserve - THANK YOU!
If somebody at the RGVBF helped provide you with a fantastic experience, please send them some love in the comments here! I for one am endlessly grateful for all of the guides and volunteers who go out of their way to make my job easier every year - THANK YOU ALL!
More posts to come over the coming months to highlight our diverse set of trips from this past year. We'll be back next year - join us for RGVBF 2026 from November 11-15!
