We’re excited to be welcoming back two amazing sculptors to our competition: Karlis Ile and Karen Fralich! This is Karlis’ third year with us; you probably remember his fantastic piece from last year, “To Touch the Stars.” Hailing from Latvia, Karlis has been sculpting across a plethora of mediums since 1995, honing his skills through figure sculpture.

As for Karen, this is her 23rd time competing with us and she always brings something amazing to the table, like her piece from last year, “Sing!” She’s been sculpting since 1994 and much of her work revolves around the fantastic and whimsical.

Both sculptors are world renowned for their craft and we’re sure that both will be bringing their A-game this year. We simply cannot wait to see what’s in store!

Let’s offer a warm welcome to another newcomer to our event this year: the amazing Agnese Rudzite! Agnese may be new to our competition, but she’s known worldwide for her expressive sculptures, crafted through a variety of materials. Much of her work centers around the female figure. She works with the realistic and the abstract, creating amazing works of art!

This year’s solo competition runs from June 18-20, with an awards ceremony on June 20th at 7:30pm on the Seashell Stage. The sculptures will be available for viewing through June 28th. Be sure to follow us to stay up to date on all things sand sculpting!

Today we’re thrilled to introduce some new blood to our competition: the amazing Joon Park, a.k.a. Jpsandman Ca! JP started his sand sculpting journey just over 10 years ago, when he was only 17 years old. He’s tapped into social media and internationally recognized, with over 1 million followers. Will he give our sand sculpting veterans a run for their money? Only one way to find out!
