Another highlight of the 2019 Livestock Shows was the Hearts of Halls Special Exhibition Sheep Show! Through the Hearts of Halls program, special needs students at HHS were able to learn about, work with, and even show their very own sheep! They were paired with a high school mentor who helped teach them about their animal’s breed and how to handle it. After several trips down to the barn to practice, students were given the opportunity to come to the fair and show in their very own showmanship class! This program was organized and put on by the Halls High School FFA Chapter and we hope to have an even bigger show next year!

“As someone who has shown pigs for several years at the Lauderdale County Fair, I have seen it change and improve. Even with all the change that has happened, it has always felt like home. The brand new barn and pens make it feel extra special. The people at the show are just as great as the show itself. The people at the show are always helpful, from helping you load and unload your animals to helping you get them in and out of the show ring. I can’t wait to see what the Lauderdale County Fair develops into over the next couple of years!”

“As a livestock exhibitor my love for county fairs runs deep. However, I can confidently say that the Lauderdale County Fair is my favorite place to show my sheep. Not only is it my local fair, but it’s also one of the easiest places to prep and care for my animals. Everything, from water to the arena entrance, is so easily accessible. Not only that, but the people in charge of the shows are always so friendly and welcoming, even to newcomers like I once was. These are just a few of the many reasons why I love attending and showing at the Lauderdale County Fair!”

The Lauderdale County livestock shows have always been some of my favorites! I’ve shown there the past 4 years. In the beginning we showed in a parking lot and our animals were stalled under a tent. That kept the show very interesting, but always fun. Now they have a very nice barn and show ring. Over the years I’ve loved getting to see the show develop and grow. I’m so thankful that Lauderdale County Fair allows me to show all 3 species in one day! I can’t wait to show there once again this year! Alicia Cantrell Susan Rose Worlds

“Lauderdale County Fair has a touch of home about it. I look forward to this fair every year! Even though there are so many around West TN that I participate in, the Lauderdale County Fair will always hold a piece of my heart! Those last few days of the week are my favorite! I love that kids/teens of all ages come and participate in every type of livestock show! It’s not about the competition and who wins or loses, its really about the friends and memories you make! The laughs are contagious, and you never meet a stranger! These last 2 years that I’ve competed in showing cattle at the fair have been some of my favorites! Being able to show my community and fellow students of Lauderdale County a small portion the agriculture world is definitely a memory I will always cherish! This coming fall I hope to see all participants and students come out and see how wonderful the Lauderdale County fair is!”
