Our family and friends always come to the Coastside for Thanksgiving Weekend, and love to head into Downtown Half Moon Bay for a ramble. If yours do too, we suggest stopping by the Coastside History Museum and taking a gander at the Postcards to the Future Exhibit! This collaboration between Make It Main Street HMB, Moon Bay History Association and the Coastal Literary Arts Movement is on display through November, and features original works from some of our most prominent artists and community members.

Gratitude abounds for Half Moon Bay Winery, Dragonfly Community Arts, and City of Half Moon Bay - Recreation & Community Services along with the docents and volunteers of the host organizations.

Postcards To The Future is a collaborative, communal Mail-art project, inspired in part by a project of the Nobel Peace Museum in Stockholm, Sweden. Along with our partners from the Coastal Literary Arts Movement and the Half Moon Bay History Association, we invited the Coastside community to share their intentions, challenges, aspirations, hopes, and concerns for the future by creating and sending a Postcard To The Future. Over 150 postcards were submitted, each an artful reflection on family, community, the environment, cultural changes, science, technology, politics, art, spirituality, friendship and love of Country, reflections on why We Love Half Moon Bay's amazing array of communities.
We'll be sending our postcards of gratitude to our partners at the City of Half Moon Bay - Recreation & Community Services, Half Moon Bay Winery, Dragonfly Community Arts, Coastside Farmers' Market in Half Moon Bay, and Coastside Farmers' Market in Pacifica , and a special Shout out to Sebastion Pedersen of SCRAP-SF for getting right into the glorious mess of spontaneous public art making with us too! National Endowment for the Arts workers and admins, hang in there!

We had the best mini, local version of the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival last Thursday making Silly Squashes, Goofy Gourds, Seasonal Centerpieces AND hosting an impromptu hula performance courtesy of Maestra Cori Magos and Hālau o Nāpua from México City, who had just arrived in town that day! Hula Kawika Alfice, who is the Director for the Kaululehua Hawaiian Cultural Center in South San Francisco, and has been teaching hula and Hawaiian cultural arts for over 25 years, accompanied with live traditional Hawaiian music and song . So Yea, not something you see in Downtown Half Moon Bay every day! The performance was enchanting, uplifting and transporting. Big Aloha to all the dancers for the gift of your presence - and thanks for also making Postcards To The Future to include in our upcoming exhibit!
And of course to Dragonfly Community Arts, Half Moon Bay Winery and the City of Half Moon Bay - Recreation & Community Services
