From the early days of our race

Fifty-five years ago today — April 3, 1971 — Elton Horst of the Cumberland Valley Athletic Club won the ninth annual JFK 50 Mile in a course-record time of 6:15:42. Among the finishers that day was 12-year-old Mike Spinnler.
