LOCAL AUTHOR GENEROUSLY SUPPORTS OUR SPECIAL STATE PROJECT!

We are happy to share a message from local author Dennis Michael Foley, who will be speaking at upcoming meetings of The Haddon Fortnightly and our EMD:

“Today I had the opportunity to meet Michele Rodriguez from Embrella, a charity that does tremendous work to provide services for foster children. As many of you know, my new book SLEEPING BEARS is being released at the end of this month. I'm happy to announce that I have pledged $5.00 for every book sold where the buyer inputs the code “embrella” at checkout. That's a win-win-win. You get a funny, gritty Chicago book about an oddball family, embrella gets some $, and I can buy some new socks. Here's the link for more info on the book and don't forget to use the code. Thanks. www.sidestreetpressbooks.com/our-books”

Thanks to Dennis for his generosity! For more information about embrella, go to https://www.embrella.org/

IT’S SOCKTOBER!

As the weather becomes chilly, many of our friends in need appreciate new socks to keep their feet warm and healthy.

The Haddon Fortnightly and the Haddonfield Library are now in our fifth year of sponsoring “SOCKTOBER,” our effort to collect, clean new socks during the month of October for the needy before the cold winter weather sets in.

Throughout the month of October, new socks may be dropped off in the lobby of the library. There is no limit on the number of new socks you may wish to donate, and all sizes/colors are accepted.

Each pair of socks donated is truly appreciated by those receiving them, giving the recipient a chance for healthier, warmer feet this winter.

We may not be walking in their shoes, but we all know the feeling of walking in shoes with no socks on a cold winter day!
