🇩🇪 Well…this was FUN! 💃🕺

The Folk Dance Troupe from Cedar Falls/Waterloo brought the energy to Germanfest—and the German Band caught this fantastic dance on video! 🎶🥨

The music. The dancing. The smiles. THIS is Germanfest! ❤️

And just like that… Germanfest is over.

The music has stopped, the b**r boots are empty, and Guttenberg is a little quieter today.

For two days, our little river town was filled with polka music, laughter, dancing, yodeling, fireworks, German food, old friends and new ones. We watched kids make memories, families carry on traditions, and an entire community come together to celebrate 35 years of Germanfest.

But Germanfest has never really been about the b**r, the bands or the contests.

It’s about people.

The volunteers who give countless hours. The businesses and sponsors who say yes year after year. The performers who bring the party. The families who make Germanfest part of their tradition. And every single person who walked through the gates and helped make Guttenberg feel like the best little German town on the Mississippi.

There are months of planning for two very short days — and somehow, every year, it’s worth it.

So today we're tired. Our feet hurt. There may be a few b**r boots that need washing. 😂

But mostly, our hearts are full.

Danke, Guttenberg. Danke to everyone who made our 35th Germanfest one we'll never forget. ❤️🇩🇪

Day 1 of year # 35 in the books!

We crowned new Germanfest Royalty! Dr. Andy and MJ Smith, truly inspirational members of our community!

We tapped the ceremonial wooden keg and served 150 biers.

Fun history behind the b**r.

The b**r we served was inspired by Rudolf Wolter, a notable member of Guttenberg. Moving as a young man from Bonn Germany, and settling in Guttenberg, he formed the original brewery in Guttenberg. Wolter Bottling Works, a brewery founded in 1874.

5 Generations later his Great Great Great Grandson, Jon Klaes and Kathryn would go on to found and operate what you all know as the Guttenberg Brewing Company.

We tapped Schwarzbier, a black l***r made in inspiration of Rudolf, and traditional German Brewing techniques using only 4 ingredients. Hops, Roasted Barley, Water, and Yeast.

Guttenberg Brewing Company has Giant Bavarian Pretzels with a German twist.
Driftwood Diner has a special menu.
