Yesterday's task was invalidated with about half of the pilots launching before launch was closed due to high winds, leaving insufficient time for all pilots to take off. Many of the pilots who did launch had great flights; congratulations to those who made goal! 📸 by Ben Dunn

Planning to enter the first annual Red Rocks Hang Gliding Competition? The registration fee is $449 but will increase to $495 after May 15.

Unfortunately, the Red Rocks HG Academy and Fly-In have been canceled--but the competition is still on, and we can't wait to see you there!

Yes!! We are breaking ground next week to improve the Monroe Canyon View main landing zone. We are very grateful for the money that Foundation For Free Flight has generously provided. They have enabled us to fast track this project so that it will be ready for our national Red Rocks competition this June. This undertaking will significantly increase the safety margins for landing hang gliders in the main LZ. Please make your tax deductible donation to help support our efforts.

Please join us tomorrow, Sunday 4/2 at 9 pm ET, for the Red Rocks Hang Gliding event virtual ground school class #8: Flying Monroe in an Ultra-Realistic VR Hang Gliding Flight Simulator, presented by Tom Low and hosted by Zac Majors.

Tom, who built his first hang glider in 1971, has nearly 4,000 hours of hang glider flight time and is a former basic and advanced instructor, observer, examiner, and tandem pilot. Holding a mechanical and aerospace engineering graduate degree, he has long been fascinated with PC flight simulation and virtual reality. He will provide an introduction to the "Freeflight Experience," an ultra-realistic VR hang gliding flight simulator he created to help pilots of all levels practice and refine their soaring skills, XC judgment, and understanding of hang gliding meteorology. The program, which includes detailed models of the Monroe region and many other popular flying destinations, can be used to build familiarity with the site's topography and meteorology.
